AIBU?

Was IBU to have been upset by this?

I'm in college full time but have a weekend job also, so I'm pretty tired. I start at 8am at the weekends and yesterday my boss said this to me:
"You come in looking pretty tired. Why don't you try wearing some makeup so you look nice for the customers?"
I was actually wearing makeup when he said this. I have dry skin around my nose and on my forehead and by the end of the day it looks awful if I've been wearing foundation, unless I go to the bathroom, take it off, moisturise and reapply which is just not practical. I also have some redness on my cheeks so wear concealer there too. What I don't have though is dark circles. I go to bed at 9 every night but even when I've had a late night I don't have dark circles.
WIBU to get a cat arse mouth and feel crap for the rest of the day?

That was so rude. I take it he is an adonis?

What a knobber. Say you'll wear make-up when he does.

That's very rude and unprofessional of him.

What a horrible thing to say. YANBU. I would actually be tempted to complain - please do if he ever says anything like that again.

There's no one to complain to, it's a small cafe that he owns. He doesn't work there so I spend my day with his wife. He comes in once a day to piss me off check on the shop.

FFS what an utter twat - I would be complaining tbh.

WRT to the make up problem - I have exactly the same flaky skin problem and some rosacea to boot (great!) and Aloe products from The Body Shop have really sorted my skin out and make up IF i choose to wear it, lasts all day. I also use Bisque conceal or from Bare Minerals which is magic for covering up red cheeks.

None of the above is to please your hillock of a boss though !!!

I would say very pointedly to his wife 'Do you know what your husband said to me?!' and make it very clear you will not put up with it. I bet she's had a lifetime of it!

of course, when all the male staff wear make up.

Realistically if you need the job and it is a private owned business, then you have to limit your response.

I would be passive aggressive to his wife and keep asking what foundation/make up she wears as her husband has suggested that you go more glam and yours suffers in the heat of the cooking.

Appearance aside, are you taking care of yourself, relaxing and eating well? You are under a lot of strain working 7 days a week (and having an arse to put up with).

Birdsgottafly not really, I'm eating crap and not really getting out. I am sleeping well though which is unusual for me, I know my diet is effecting my skin as well as the weather, but I don't have the time or money to prepare proper meals.

Valiumredhead thanks for the tips, I'll look into it. I do normally wear quite a bit of makeup but when my skin is like this I don't have the time to redo it in work.

Your boss has a tiny penis.

I think that it sounds as though your boss is looking for something to be critical about.

But i found that using 'peel/exfoliating' masks (i use elemis papya peel) helps with flaky skin, you cannot just moisurise.

Your phyiscal state either shows in your skin or immune system, though.
