AIBU?

To think that Brooches do not 'scream old lady'?

DH and I only buy each other token Bday presents. Its my Birthday at the end of the month and DH has asked me what I would like.

I said that I had seen a really nice brooch on Folksy to go on my winter coat which I really liked and he could get me that if he liked.

Cue lots of laughing and calling me an old lady.

No they don't, not if they're smart.
But to maybe you could promise him to pin it on your silky smalls- might help him see it in a different light?Grin

I like brooches & have several lovely antique ones - I don't think 47 particularly old!

they have been in for a while.

sharon osborne wore them on blazers (the safety needle with charms style) whilst she did x-factor and cath kidston do some - little ones to be worn in clumps.

Can't remember who she was but some trendy young blonde lady was in this week's Look magazine getting praise for adding brooches to her jumper and making it pretty. So no, not old lady.

Oh no...YABU.

I am afraid I have not seen anyone with any brooch that doesn't make me think 'ahh I bet her Nan gave her that, how sweet'. They don't scream old lady they just get too into your personal space and shout it because they assume you're as deaf as they are. Some of the new ones make me think 'geez, her Nan was a mad charm freak'.

However - I repeat my feelings from style and beauty - If you like it then have it, enjoy it and sod anyone that thinks otherwise. You don't need to sod me though because I would never, ever say anything (outside of AIBU) and even if I thought it looked like an old lady anti-mugged you I still love watching people love and enjoy things.

Oh I love a brooch but then I love wearing pearls and felt hats too.

I was just thinking of asking for a brooch for Christmas! Embrace the old-ladyness!

If I was your DH, I would do a number of things....
Buy you a brooch if that's what you wanted
Tell you how scintillatingly gorgeous you looked wearing it
Not even consider for a moment taking the piss out of you
Try to grow up and stop being such a prick

Just sayin'......

Ok I have no idea who she is but she is in a cable knit with brooches.
If that doesn't channel old lady with every fibre but a blue rinse I don't know what does. And it's orange.

I would have more benign feelings about it if I thought she was wearing it because she loved it rather than it being 'so hawt rite now'.

I must be really old, as I wear one to close my chiffon scarves Grin

I think you all sounds very glamorous and stylish. I wear jeans and sweatshirts or fleece. Brooches don't go with those. I have no style I just wear clothes Confused
