AIBU?

to think that vomitting into a carrier bag in the middle of a cafe is not on, even if it is 'just morning sickness'

Was in a cafe this lunch time with my parents and my DD, a lady came in with three other adults and a toddler and sat at one of the tables, they were about halfway through their lunch when the lady took a carrier bag out of her handbag, vomitted into it, tied a knot in it and put it under her chair next to some shopping bags. She then loudly talked to her fellow diners about it just being morning sickness and picked at her remaining food.

Don't get me wrong, I remember the morning sickness days well, it's a horrible feeling, I don't miss it, BUT this was a cafe, other people are eating and there was a well-signed toilet a few metres from her table - did she really need to do that?

Fortunately it wasn't a carrier bag with holes........

Ds once threw up in a cafe. I didn't have time to get him to the loo, so they gave us a bucket. It happens.

Eww, no need at all. I had horrendous morning sickness when pregnant with DS and managed not to barf in public.

However, I do remember the smell of toilets making the sickness ten times worse........

That's vile. Even if she wasn't going to make the loo, fair enough but do something with the fucking bag of spew. What was she keeping it for?

She'll be the arsehole getting the portable potty out in pizza hut in a few years.

Barfing into a bag if you don't think you'll make the loo = acceptable.

Keeping the barf = not.

I know that accidents happen but, TBH, when I suffered horrendous morning sickness whilst pregnant with DD I avoided cafes rather than risk something like that happening Sad.

I find it pretty gross to be fair.

Minging. I too remember the morning sickness well and once had to vomit behind a tree on the way home from work.

But, even if she HAD to do it in the carrier bag in the middle of the cafe (Hmm) she should at least have taken it straight to the toilet. Foul.

Didnt she make attempt to get to the toilet?

If someone done that when I was close by, I would be throwing up as well!

Can handle anything but vomit, even after 4 kids Blush

Ordinarily I'd think it was ok to use a bag if you're not gonna make it to the loo, but the loo here was literally 2 regular sized paces away from her chair.

I don't mean to judge her - I morning sickness is horrible.

I had HG very badly. I still managed to get myself to a toilet on the one time we tried to inject a bit of normality back into life. Vomit is vomit no matter what causes it and that was pretty bad manners to do what she did.

No not on at all!

I am an emetophobe, I'd have been really panicked at that and would've had to have had to leave the cafe!

I threw up in a bin on a train platform once when I was pregnant when someone walked past with a fried egg roll Blush Was standing right outside the toilet but wouldn't have made it. So don't blame her for being prepared and having to puke when she did but.....
absolutely disgusting to keep the bag under the chair. I'd have complained to the waiter and I'm like MrsPresley, I'd have gone too!

Ergh, she put a bag of barf under a chair and carried on eating??

I hope she later mistook it for a bit of shopping and gleefully opened it on the bed.

Also I might have thrown up too. Listening to someone else throwing up sets off some kind of reaction in me.

At least it wasn't on the table or floor or other people. I can't understand how she can still eat having just been sick. I know it's just bile but still ......

As others have said, she should (or one of her companions should if she didn't want to move) have taken the bag to the toilet.

She wasn't wrong to use the bag if she couldn't make it to the toilet in time, I judge her for not taking bag to toilet to dispose of it and wash her hands!

Report
LifeIsButtercream · 12/10/2012 19:37

She didn't attempt to get to the loo (even though there was a clear path)

To be honest in the amount of time it took her to unhook her handbag from her chair, retrieve the bag and unfurl it she could have made it to the loo easily. Her lunch companions didn't seem fazed.
