Accidently upset another SEN mum in school AIBU?

DD's SENCO recommended a few computer games to help at school. I'm not one for spending tons on these things so did an eBay trip :) I was saying to the other mum in DD's 'masterclass' about them and she appears to have also been bidding on them. I have apologised, as I didn't know it was her, and offered to share the games, as there are 3 different ones but she is having none of it. she has a bee in her bonnet over my outbidding her and is very happy to keep mentioning it to anyone who will listen.

DD has come back from masterclass today upset as other mum's DS has said he hasn't got a game to use at home because we stole them from his mum.

AIBU to want to punch her in the face and whack her with my sticks? I apologised and I've offered to share why can't she just drop it.

She is being horrible. Does she not realise how eBay works?

:( You haven't done anything wrong. How were you supposed to know she was bidding too? Make sure your DD understands that she has nothing to be upset about too and ignore her!

YANBU, she is.
You have been generous and helpful, she is being petty.

Tell her to fuck right off.

She sounds like the type of crazy bitch that would try to track down other bidders/buyers and give them grief. It was just highly unlucky that she knew your personally.

Why did you even apologise? It's eBay. You bid and win or bid and lose. There's no sharing! Just because she knows it's you makes bugger all difference. Strange lady.

If she's happy to keep mentioning it to everyone then she's just going to make a tit of herself, isn't she?

She's classing you putting in the winning bid as theft?

Of course she's BU Grin

Not very nice to start involving both your children though, could she just have mentioned it but meaning it as a 'joke' to her DC?

You could equally say that she made the price go right up for you...

you've done everything you can. She sounds horrible. Maybe she is going through it at the moment and isn't usually like this - I hope that's it - but it's not your fault whatever.

You were more than generous offering to share.

also these items will doubtless be on ebay again. She's being weird.

AgentZigzag · 12/10/2012 18:51

When your DD's finished with them, you can put them back on ebay and tell her she can bid on them again?

I apologised because Blush she scares me, she is strident and a pillar of the community. mostly committees for this and that, no actual work.

I am not those things. I tutor DD, volunteer for 4 different charities and run an online ebay business around my disability (I don't get any help other than having a blue badge). I openly acknowledge my child has SEN, where is the shame in being differently abled.

The irony of it is that she has the money to pay full price for new ones, she pays for a tutor three nights a week, always on this and that spa days and the au pair/nanny help whatever you want to call her drives a better car than mine.

So you told her to be nice, then she pushed up the price for you? Nice. Go ahead and punch her in the face and whack her with your sticks. (Do you really have sticks for this purpose? Grin)

well I did snipe her tbh but I do that to most auctions. And yes they will be going back on EBAY when we have used them :)

You didn't steal them from her. You offered more money than she did.

She's being petty. Ignore her.

Grin at 'Do you really have sticks for this purpose?'

Tailtwister · 12/10/2012 18:56

How childish of her. How were you supposed to know it was her? She is BVU to go on about it in front of the children, quite nasty imo.

You have done nothing wrong OP. I can't believe you even offered to share the games and she still went on about it. Ignore as best you can!

You were kind of in the right here, without the need to be snippy about her daily life and finances - so whaat is she isn't in paid employment, and you volunteering for charity is a bit irrelevant. How do you know she has spare cash. For brand new stuff? She chooses to pay a tutor, you do it yourself. Sticking to the ebay thing, she's out of order.

What a tit.

Ignore her.

You did nothing wrong with the ebay thing, but then I thought it sounded like you have a difficult relationship with her anyway without the CDs. She is clearly a tit, I'd have a difficult relationship with her too.

YANBU. She's being ridiculous and sounds like a self-righteous bully.

If it's affecting your DD with comments from her DS you could even have a word with the teacher.

sorry should have been clearer. didn't put the quote marks in (I'm a) 'pillar of the community. mostly committees for this and that' and she has said in the past she leaves the actual work to others.

I'd put my stuff in as a - so others do it too, kind of thing, there are loads of parents who give up their time to run things for the kids but she sort of pushes her hour a month at the old peoples home down your throats ina wedges it into the conversation.

She has brought up the tutor herself, asking other parents who they used etc, and was a bit snotty when I said I did it myself but I let it pass as most parents would do it if they could.

She actually said to the SENCO where could she order them from in front of the rest of the parents. maybe that is why she is so pissed off at me for being honest that I got them from Ebay. Her reaction was so extreme as if I had ripped them out of her hand at the supermarket or something thats what I cannot fathom.

I'd have said oh well done, when you are finished/ before you relist consider me kind of thing. Not accuse the winner of theft

If she mentions it again, just say you got them fairly and that she can always bid on others
