Today is my birthday. On the HUGE plus side dh and I had a child free weekend away (just gone) in London. Saw loads of friends, nice meal,West End Show. Wonderful time. My AIBU is that this morning there is no card from DH and no card or small present from 5yr old DS. He was asking where his card was etc and started to get a bit upset so I quickly waylaid it with the idea that a kiss and a rendition if Happy Birthday woukd be just fantastic. AIBU to be a bit sad as i ADORE his little handwritten cards? DH will be working late, later so no chance of last minute scrawlings. I know it's not the end of the world! Sorry for paragraphs etc,on phone and it takes ages.

Awww I feel sad for your son.

Im quite a bit older than my little brother and it was my job to help him sort out my mums birthday card from him when he was 5. I forgot the night before but thought Id do it in the morning with him. He was distraught when he woke up with no card for his mum I felt awful.

Dont be too hard on your husband, I doubt he meant to miss it. He'll have just thought the weekend celebrations was it, because it was quite a big thing by the sounds.

Happy Birthday Shakey!

It's my birthday today too. DH is away but her did at least manage to leave a card behind, albeit in the envelope he used for our anniversary card yesterday because he's lost the one it should be in! He also got both of the girls to write cards to give me this morning too.

I'm sorry your DH couldn't manage a couple of cards.

I hope you have a good day.

YANBU. But if it is the sign of the shaky handwriting of your DS that you really crave (and I would too) why not get him to do you a picture when he comes home and sign it? Not quite the same. But a nice thing to do together. Maybe have cake together. Candles even? You had a lovely weekend so you know that you are appreciated. Have a happy time with DS after school. Oh and Happy Birthday.

My birthday present? Well so far I've just had the one - a childminding parent giving me notice because her partner's work has dried up Sad
