Minor details changed in the hope of preserving anonymity!

A teacher in our school hired one of those rentable incubators in order to hatch some chicks (Life Cycles in Science.) It came with really strict and clear instructions. Today she informs us she had "helped some of the eggs along" as the kids were desperate to see them hatch. End result - 3 dead chicks. Kids upset, even though the dead chicks were quickly removed. Idiot teacher's attitude along the "oops lol" lines, ie doesn't seem to give a shit.

I am so annoyed! I won't say anything as this woman is senior to me, and I'm new and really don't want to rock any boats, but what an idiotic thing to do.

Needed to vent, sorry!

How old are the class?

If that is genuinely what happened I'd be making a formal complaint. What a fool

MissAnnersly is that all you've got to say Confused

That's bloody dispicable and I'd be reporting her.

I don't really think its an appropriate thing to do anyway, if the chicks had lived what happens to them then?

Completely defeats the point. Bloody stupid woman.

Report to the head and RSPCA.

That's beyond cruel.

It amazes me how many people don't view animals as living creatures, just 'things'.

:(

"And these people teach the next generation!"

One person actually. Please don't generalise about all teachers because of the actions of one.

What on earth did she do to the eggs?!

Report
HecateLarpo · 08/10/2012 18:53

How do you 'help eggs along'?

What the hell did she do? She thought she could make the chicks develop faster?

Is she totally brainless?

Report
Ephiny · 08/10/2012 18:54

If the chicks had been born alive, what were they going to do with them? Confused

DizzyHoneyBee · 08/10/2012 18:57

BigWitchLegsInWailyTights · 08/10/2012 18:58

How on earth do you "help" them along???

LFCisTarkaDahl · 08/10/2012 18:59

Can you let us know what the school are going to do about the live ones - they come in batches of six right??

Please tell me they're going to be responsibly homed.
