To think Jurassic Park shouldn't be a)a PG and b) on mid-afternoon?

I'm 32 and I'm scared! Would you be happy letting your DC watch this? I had to google the rating and was really shocked to find it was a PG!

Maybe I'm a wuss, but I remember being scared in the cinema aged 13 and would have been wetting myself aged 4!

It's a great film. Yes, it's scary for some. Yes, there are a few moments where your imagination can run riot and you know it's grusome.

I love it (and not 'scared' seriously, you're actually SCARED? Fair enough if you are but don't fret dinosaurs are extinct) both my boys love it... my youngest 'accidentally' watched some of it at about 2yrs old and ADORED it. (His elder brother put it on while I was cooking, no I didn't even notice, send me to jail).

My 11yo can't watch it, he ends up having nightmares.
My 7yo loves it, has nightmares, but apparently that's part of the fun

My DC are 4 and 7 and love it. Both have seen it about 50 times as it was a favourite last year.

I remember seeing it when I was 12 and finding some bits really scary. But it's that fun scary, isn't it? Afterwards you laugh about what bits made you jump.

YABU. Jurassic Park sits perfectly well within the BBFC classification of PG, which is:

I got back from work an hour ago to find my two almost four year olds watching it. I was a bit cross as I have previously said to DH I don't think it's appropriate - but in hindsight, the kitchen bit which terrified me as an 11 year old was much worse on the big screen!

They bloody loved it btw and DH has just told me they've watched it before.

Jaws is a PG too. It means Parental Guidance, so that is what the decision to watch or not should be based on.
Parents doing their job.

My nearly 4 year old watched five minutes of it and burst out crying saying "It's too scarey!" We had to turn it off.

He is a total softie though and is still properly frightened of the Gruffalo.

I felt the same but my childminder showed it to my kids when they were 4 and 8 and they loved it. It's not as scary on TV as it was at the cinema!

I would think it would be too scary for little kids, but obviously not! I think I'm a wuss. I'm still scared of Darth Vader. Maybe I'll let the DC's watch it, I've been telling them it's too scary.
