telling me you can't babysit for me as you are too far away when

A) I didn't ask you to
B) Would have noted the distance for myself and not even asked in the first place?

Sorry if this seems baffling by the way, I registered with that childcare.co.uk website yesterday and that was first message I got.

Why did you register if you can't use the service? I would have thought its good that they tell you ASAP that they can't work for you in case you did ask them and you didn't note the distance.

Pandemoniaa · 03/10/2012 13:42

I can do tonight. But tomorrow would be difficult.

BigFatLegsInWoolyTIghts · 03/10/2012 13:43

perhaps there was a glitch and the babysitter got your profile sent to her or something?

Report
Pandemoniaa · 03/10/2012 13:44

To be serious though, I can understand someone saying they couldn't babysit because of distance, or whatever. But why volunteer that information when you've not been asked in the first place? Have people really got so much time that they can fire off pointless messages about non-existent invitations?

BigFatLegsInWoolyTIghts · 03/10/2012 13:44

freddos it's probably a national service. Cervix will have got a message from someone registered but not in her area.

Tis strange OP.

If you viewed their profile, they would have got a notification to say this. Maybe they thought that meant you wanted to use them to babysit? They might be new to the site too..

Massively outing me if said babysitter is on here but this is the message she sent to me.

"I am a babysitter and would apply but live 9.1 miles away from you."

So I asked her nicely as possible why she messaged, as I was not going to ask her due to the distance being almost 10 miles, she replied it was to see if she could ever get there.

I message once again stating I am completely lost as to what she is trying to say and she replied the following:

"Doesn't matter thanks for getting bk to me I'm a babysitter applied and then realised actually how far but it isn't really I have clients about 10 miles away from me snyways thanks again c"

From that message I am totally baffled and am not going to bother replying. I know I sound a bit mean but I really don't understand what she was really expecting?

I'm not with it today so if someone gets itmore than I do please feel free to explain it to me :o

I think maybe she was hoping you would say 'oh it's ok, I could pick you up' or something like that?

Report
SecretCervix · 03/10/2012 14:42

She can keep hoping on that then- I don't drive! :o

I wonder if she knows how to use childcare.co.uk and messaged you as you came up as one of her local parents? Points to her for messaging though, even if she does seem a bit arbitrary! Grin

I may need a babysitter for when I go to my scan in a few weeks, as I really want DP to come with me but don't really want to take 15 month old DD in case they are funny about it, hence joining the website to see if it was any use. (Family out as we not telling them till AFTER the scan and I'm uber paranoid due to previous mc!)
