Would you leave a sleeping baby in car in quiet residential street while you popped into friends house for 5 mins?

And didn't keep car within your sight from house?
Personally I would not do this. But have friend who did.
Just wondered what general opinion was.

God no, never ever.

bonzo77 Sun 30-Sep-12 19:57:52

No. Not even if car was in sight. Not even on my own drive.

GlitterySkulls Sun 30-Sep-12 19:58:12

i wouldn't- anything could happen.

CMOTDibbler Sun 30-Sep-12 19:58:28

No, def not, and I'm not a big worrier

Shakey1500 Sun 30-Sep-12 19:58:48

Never.

Rubirosa Sun 30-Sep-12 19:58:56

I would (and have) if car is in sight/on drive, but otherwise wouldn't. But if it was just 5 minutes then I wouldn't judge someone who did.

mumtocuddlebundle Sun 30-Sep-12 19:59:09

Great. Glad to hear it's not just me being over cautious.

SauvignonBlanche Sun 30-Sep-12 19:59:42

I wouldn't.

Pooka Sun 30-Sep-12 20:00:21

No.

Might have if had drive and could sit in sight of car.

Sirzy Sun 30-Sep-12 20:00:26

No way

Pochemuchka Sun 30-Sep-12 20:00:32

No. Definitely not.

akaemmafrost Sun 30-Sep-12 20:00:49

No way.

IneedAsockamnesty Sun 30-Sep-12 20:00:55

i wouldnt and if i had a friend who did this whilst popping into mine i would talk to them on the doorstep

WelshMaenad Sun 30-Sep-12 20:01:21

Yes. And have.

NamesKerry Sun 30-Sep-12 20:01:39

No definitely not. It makes me shudder at the thought.

In front of house or driveway yes. In car whilst you cross road and go into school to collect other kids NO. Had to dismiss a nanny for this one.

mumtocuddlebundle Sun 30-Sep-12 20:02:29

It was on my street- not on drive. And we were well out of site of car once in house.
I don't like to judge. Everyone has there own opinions on these things etc. I did kind of wonder if I should have said something. But didn't want to sound critical of her.
I would never do this myself. If I arrive home and don't want to wake baby I sit and listen to radio in car.

Birdsgottafly Sun 30-Sep-12 20:03:06

I suppose this depends on where you live, i wouldn't, regardless.

My BIL had his windscreen smashed by kids messing about, two nights ago and there are fireworks being set off allready in my area, so you couldn't take the risk.

Not on the road and out of sight, no.

In front of a shop/nursery, or forecourt of a petrol station with car in sight, yes.

Levantine Sun 30-Sep-12 20:04:05

Yes if car in sight at all times NO WAY otherwise

LST Sun 30-Sep-12 20:04:12

If DS is asleep in the car and I go to my mums. I park on the drive and leave him.

He's always in full view.

Gooseysgirl Sun 30-Sep-12 20:04:12

Absolutely not

tittytittyhanghang Sun 30-Sep-12 20:05:04

prepared to be flamed but yh, i probably would if I knew i was just popping in for a few minutes, and the baby was sleeping, although it depends on age of baby. When ds was in his first car seat it just unclipped out so easy enough to get in and out so would just bring him in and out with the car seat. Once he was slightly older though (about 8 months) and the car seat was fitted into the car, id probably would have been loathed to wake him up for a few minutes.
