SOME TEENAGERS CAUSE NUISANCE IN THEIR COMMUNITY BECAUSE THEY ARE BORED.SO THEY DO FUN THINGS TO FOR A LAUGH TO KEEP THEMSELVES ENTERTAINED WHICH CAN CAUSE MISERY FOR MANY RESIDENTS.
MAYBE IF WE HAD VOLUNTEERS/PARENTS/OLDER CHILDREN ON PLAYING FIELDS TO PLAY EG FOOTBALL/CRICKET/RUNNING RACES/ROUNDERS /NETBALL IT WOULD KEEP THEM ENTERTAINED AND OUT OF TROUBLE?
MY SON WHO IS 12 AND A SENSIBLE BOY WAS PLAYING FOOTBALL IN OUR STREET WITH A SOFT SPONGE BALL WITH 8 OF HIS FRIENDS .A NEIGHBOUR CAME OUT AND TOLD THEM TO CLEAR OFF AND NEVER PLAY NEAR HIS HOUSE AGAIN.NOW MY SON IS FRIGHTENED TO PLAY OUT .I DONT WANT HIM ON THE COMPUTER GAMES ALL THE TIME .SURELY WE SHOULD BE HAPPY AND PRAISE CHILDREN TO PLAY OUT DOING SPORTS.TEAM SPORTS ARE SO GOOD FOR OUR FUTURE GENERATIONS IN THEIR FUTURE JOBS LEARNING TO MIX AND SOCIALISE. IF WE DONT THIS COULD LEAD THEM TO STAND IN CROWDS BORED AND LEAD TO UNSOCIALBLE BEHAVIOR AND UNSOCIALBLE PLAYING ON THE COMPUTER?

Absolutely agree but all in CAPS LOCK seems a little shouty and difficult to read...
Worth a debate though. Can you speak to this neighbour and explain kids need to play outside and appreciate his support?

WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOUR CAPS LOCK?

If 9 nearly teenaged boys were playing out in my street and especially in front of my house I would tell them to clear off too I'm afraid. Why couldn't they play at the park?

I do agree with your general sentiment though. Why don't you start something in your area?

Why are you shouting?

Tbh I think there are more alternatives than playing outside someone's house or computer games.

What's wrong with the park, a bike ride, etc

Why do they have to play in the street? People kicking balls outside someone's house may piss them off.

And why is he scared to go out? He was only told to not play outside that house.

And instead of being all shouty why dont you organise something?

Do teens need someone at te park to organise them to play football? If they can manage it on the street, I don't see why they can't do it in the park Confused

What's wrong with the park? And can't kids organise their own games?

hi sorry not good on computers ,didnt mean to shout.. just now worked out how to type in lower case!
thank you for your replies.
some of my childrens friends in the street are 7 /8 years old so too young to cross a main road and go to the park on their own yes i can go with them but not for 3 hours every night-theres tea to cook.its good for young ones to play close to home !.

leave the park to older kids-
i was also thinking this would be a good thing for teenage thugs who are hanging round shops eg and causing trouble in their neighbour hood , (above post) no some cant manage it they need others to organise and encorage them thats it more fun playing sports on the field then causing mayham.

Right, from your post I took it that your son was a teen. Is there space for them to play by your house, rather than shouty neighbour's?

But I guess people's lack of time is the problem. You don't have time and probably not many other people do either in a voluntary capacity. Are there any community/council funded sports sessions or youth club near you?

And I don't think bored teens are automatically thuggish. Many o the thuggish ones are bored and would benefit from some kind of community activity, but I think you're confusing the issue a little.

The OP's son is 12

All he has to do is move down the road a bit and play sponge ball there.

Ours play in the street all the time when it's fine. It's great for slowing down traffic...ds says younger drivers tend to look fed up with them but older ones seem to enjoy seeing them play.

FANCY A SHOUTY THREAD OP? IT CAN BE QUITE CATHARTIC Grin
