AIBU?

To think that it's really really really really really really really annoying when people put far too much information into a thread title and that they should keep the title short and informative?

I'll keep it short and sweet:

YANBU - I just clicked onto AIBU and thought I'd opened my kindle app by accident, far too many words.

Ooh. Not sure.
Because the thing I hate most in the world are posts like

Aibu to think that my dh shouldn't have given me a .......

Fucking hate those!

Grin Truth be told I'm jealous as this was as long as I could make it...yet it's not as long as the other ones? Angry

NickNacks threads that just say AIBU? Really wind me up.

But oddly it winds me up more when they can't even be bothered to use upper case letters.

aibu?

YANBU, seriously, I can only see around 3 threads atm. Do people seriously expect me to scroll down?

WorraLiberty

I'm not sure what you mean, could you be a little more specific?

WorraLiberty · 28/09/2012 16:42

My bad quoteunquote I should have added another 'really' to the title to make it clear Grin

yanbu
Although I hate even more people who jump on a thread and predict the outcome in a very condescending way like....

"this is not going to end well" "I'll pull up a chair" etc! Annoying!

YABU.

You need the information in the thread title to see whether it's work clicking onto. If it's just "AIBU to be upset by MIL?", then you don't know whether the MIL is a complete toxic cow (worth a click) or just feeding the kid the odd fruit shoot (meh). So you need more info in the title, like "AIBU to be upset by MIL letting herself in my house and taking photos of me and DH at it on the sofa?"

WorraLiberty · 28/09/2012 17:03

Yeah but at least 2 threads are like War and Peace!

Mind you, sometimes I've not bothered to click a thread cos the title looked boring and then eventually realised it was a goodun.

See I think 'Aibu to be upset by MIL?' is OK because it tells me it's going to be a good old MIL rant and that's all I need to know.

Report
THEMardy · 28/09/2012 17:09

Why why why needs to be more specific. I wasted 3 seconds of my lift clicking on it.

stop fishing for compliments with faux aibu
it's obvious
it's lame

to post an inane post in a stating the very bleeding obvious way,to garner support, and mwaw mwaw you is so right Hun comments. it's calked aibu to provoke reaction seek opinion. not have your arse kissed that your not wrong about overly long titles

I hate the ones that pretend to be exciting:

AIBU TO Slap DS

WWYD MIL Hates Me
[total lack of grammar regarding the first person singular]

Discriminatory Blue Badge
[-er speaks out against black-and-white cousins]

To give worra her due, I don't think she was necessarily fishing for compliments.

I don't like the thread titles that are sensationally exciting, but when you click on them, it's usually somebody trying to get you to sign an unrelated petition or something.

Thanks, WorraLiberty, much clearer now.

Maybe it's an attention seeking thing?

How would one go about raising awareness?
