To put naked pics of your 10 year old DD on FB

Was just looking through some holiday pics of my friend and her family on FB and linked are pics of her friends DD (10 years old) naked and being thrown about in the pool by my friends husband and various males friends.

This made me feel really uncomfortable not because I think the men r peadophiles or anything like that but I just don't think a girl that age should be butt naked in this situation. Please tell me if I'm a prude, IBU etx as I hace a young DD (only 3) and this made me feel really uncomfortable.

I have childhood issues that make me feel like this and need to know if its that making me feel this way or if others do too. I don't trust my own judgement on this sort of thing.

Yanbu. 10 is too old.

KenLeeeeeee · 27/09/2012 21:42

I don't really have an opinion on the child being naked around family on holiday, but I don't think it's appropriate to have images of it on fbook. When I was 10, I would have been mortified to find my parents putting photos like that on display for anyone.

AnyFucker · 27/09/2012 21:42

I trust my own judgment, and I wouldn't condone this either.

Even more not, to put the pics on FB

WorraLiberty · 27/09/2012 21:44

I think it's quite unusual that a 10yr old would be happy to be seen naked in public, especially considering some 9yr olds have started their periods by that age?

But that aside, the photos should most definitely not be on FB.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 27/09/2012 21:44

Yabu, if the child is not self conscious about her body why should you be?

I would however be a bit uneasy putting the pics on FB.

Asamumnonsense · 27/09/2012 21:44

I totally agree with you OP! I would find it uncomfortable because she is 10.. if she was 3, I wouldn't think anything of it.

peanutMD · 27/09/2012 21:47

Assuming the men wereclose family or friends then I guess there isn't an issue with this although for me personally I would say 10 is way to old!

I definitely wouldn't be posting naked pictures if a child regardless of age on the internet never mind Facebook!

KellyElly · 27/09/2012 21:47

Ken it wasn't family. Her mum is a single mum (like me) and her DD was playing naked in the pool with other friends partners and friends.

i wouldnt, just because she is 'your' child, doesnt mean that you can violate her privacy like that.

rainyspells · 27/09/2012 21:48

People shouldn't be uploading pictures of naked children to a public social networking site no matter what age the child is. It's just wrong - ANYBODY can access the world wide web ffs

You said it was "My friend's husband"

OldCatLady · 27/09/2012 21:49

Agree that 10 is too old and that's weird!! Though, some families are really open about nudity and walk around naked all the time, so maybe they didn't think it was an issue? But TOTALLY inappropriate for it to be photographed and put in Facebook. Any pedo's lurking would have a field day!!

It's totally inapporopriate, being naked around her father, fine, other male adults, absolutely not. Definitely not for facebook either.

Liketochat1 · 27/09/2012 21:51

I wouldn't feel comfortable about this. My children's image is their's, not mine, so I don't put their photos on line at all and certainly not naked.

piratecat · 27/09/2012 21:51

no yanbu.

what!!!?? i don't get it, where was her mum, who are these people, why is it facebook. it's the context, it's wrong.

OutragedAtThePriceOfFreddos · 27/09/2012 21:52

Completely Naked! Shock

No way. 10 is too old for that. But then I wouldn't have my toddler being thrown around in a pool completely naked either.

AnyFucker · 27/09/2012 21:52

has your friend a husband or is she a single mum ?

AndiMac · 27/09/2012 21:52

If she has tagged anyone in those pictures, the friends of the person tagged can see them. Which would mean that perfect strangers can see them.

I would send your friend a PM and explain that to her. She might be ok with her friends seeing it, as she probably sees it as innocent fun (which it likely was). She might not realise others who she doesn't know can possibly see the pictures too.

KellyElly · 27/09/2012 21:52

Yes she knew my friends husband but not the other men.

A 10 year old! YADNBU, why didn't the mother put something on her!

AndiMac · 27/09/2012 21:54

P.S. I also think 10 is too old to be naked around family friends, but I'm willing to let that slide for now. It's the posting of the pictures that's the worry to me.

KellyElly · 27/09/2012 21:54

Tbh I wouldn't even let my DD be without pants around strangers but as I say that's my own hang ups from what happened to me in my own childhood.
