AIBU?

to start looking for an advent calendar?

I think I missed the boat last year.

I want a lovely one with boxes that I can fill myself which could possibly become an heirloom.

Is it unresonable to think about Christmas?

Oooh no! YANBU! I'm on....I make mine but have been tempted by the wooden ones!

Last year I did a small tree with a tiny wrapped gift for each day...numbered so they knew which to open.

Why don't you wait until January and buy a lovely wooden one for half the price then spend the year searching for lovely things to put in it? [tightfisted, moi?]

They had the decorations in John Lewis when I walked through today- so that might be a starting point

YANBU! Advent calendars like that are lovely. We have one that comes out every year and I love it.

I like that last one WoolyTIghts.

I'd like DS to have a nice one in time for this Christmas as this is the first year he will understand/ maybe remember.

I'm kind of lusting after this. There is the option to buy the refill bag every year in case I get lazy!!

I got mine from John Lewis last year - nothing housey or castley ! but very nice

I want the Playmobile ones but with 3 kids it would cost too much

I would like a train one as DS is obsessed but don't have much space/ surface for it to go on.

Just a straight forward box one with pretty not too girly decoration would be good.

Bugger off to the Christmas topic Wink

Lots of us don't do Christmas before December. Although that makes it tricky for advent calendars.

Sorry I realise my post of 22.06 might be seen as being a little aggressive. Was meant in a playful winky way.

I buy them on the 2nd December when they're half price!

I actually hate Christmas.

But I love little boxes so advent caledars are a totally different deal. Wink

Gordy, I bought a playmobil one last year and just made my 2 boys open alternate days. Worked really well. Will be trickier this year when their 2-year old sisters are possibly going to be old enough to want to join in... I am just going to re-use the one from last year, reckon I can get a good 10 years worth out of it Grin

I've been meaning to do this since before my 5yo was born for a while now. Where is a good place to look in the January sales? We don't really have the money (or time or energy) to do it this Xmas for various reasons.

Quite tempted by the playmobil ones for this year especially as they are getting a playmobil castle at Xmas.

This thread has forced me to look at the Kathe Wohlfarht website here which is brilliant for all things Christmassy. Now wishing I could justify spending, ooh, a squillion pounds on tree decorations...

You just said you 'hate' Christmas so why do you celebrate it? pathetic

I see the new Lego advent calendars are out now . There's the usual city and Star Wars ones plus a new 'friends' one for this year. They are seriously amazing. I will no doubt be buying one for myself daughter again this year!

Not unreasonable at all. I bought a lovely advent calender last month and am making good headway in my Xmas shopping. My excuse is I will be very pregnant come december and will prefer to spend my time sitting on the sofa eating chocolate.
