Ok, so I know team GB are doing great in the Olympics but come on for f**ks sake ITV....we've had about 4 Olympic stories before Tia Sharp has been mentioned ! Am I the only one that thinks a little missing girl is more important than the Olympic bloody games !?

I had actually wondered the same.

News is news...as long as it gets reported, does it matter in which order it is?

Of course it's not more important.

Important? No.

Of more interest? yes

Unfortunatly I think the police think it is a member of family or person who knows her who is to blame and that's why they aren't going down the media route.

Nancy66 - Brutal but honest response there I suppose....I'm definitely more interested in where the missing child than how fast Bolt can run 200m...

But there haven't been any developments in the case. What is there to report today that's changed from yesterday? It's hard to keep it at the top of the news when there's nothing new to report on.

If the police needed it to be the top news story they would make sure it was. They are obviously dealing with it.

meboo · 09/08/2012 22:20

Trust me, if the police wanted it top news, it would be. The truth be known they are looking for a body now.

This girl is local to me, and the search for her in this area has been intense, as well as on the local news and headlining the local press. There are posters in almost every shop and pub.

I can understand that the Olympics would be the headlines nationally though.

Meboo that was my point too but couldn't bring myself to type it [:(]

I think there is perhaps not that much in media as police either know or are pretty certain who is to blame and are gathering evidence,

Unfortunately as in about 98% of these cases it is almostly certainly someone that knows Tia, i hear they are searching grandmothers house etc, very sad and yes life is more important that fast atheletic people but for most it is just not that interesting, also note that apparently virtually nothing has happenned in syria for 2 weeks just passing mention of bombing in alleppo and damascus but it is sure to all kick off again come next monday

you know I was thinking the same watching the news the other night on BBC the bloody olympics had just finished and then the news had the olympics , fgs there is far more important and tragic news than the olympics

Sadly I also agree with Meboo and Needs.

All the buses around here have cctv, as do the shopping centres, high streets, and anywhere else that she could have gone. There is no record of her anywhere on that day.

There are plenty of awful things happening in the UK and around the world that never get reported and are more important than the olympics but that is the way the media works.

I agree the Police are onto the truth. They know what they're doing, sadly because they've done it so many times before.

I thought this too.

I also agreed with the Syrian who said that the western world was more interested in watching the Olympics than the conflict in his country which is killing 1000 people a week.

I know good news is rare but it seems tasteless.

the Olympics is news....it's just not bad news

It is sad that the olympics seem to come before everything else thats going on Sad, but i do agree with the others, such a sad story but i believe the answer lies where she was last seen, CCTV has been checked and nothing found (by the sound of things). But i do think there should be 'normal' news on before olympic news (not the other way around).

Mrsjay · 09/08/2012 22:30

I do think the main news should have 'news' first then the olympics after I know it is a great thing for britain and very exciting but ....

www.mcatracing.co.uk/missing-people-worldwide.htm

A million children go missing every year between the UK and US. I don;t think the news could cover all of them.

Tight news coverage usually means there is information the news/police dont want to disclose.

Report
madda · 09/08/2012 22:31

news channels most probably have contracts with Olympic people that their news must come first for the duration

it's all about money

I find it odd they are all pleading with her to come home and that she wont be told off etc....

I dont know but its smacks a bit of the other case where the family where in on it - shannon mathews...

If my DD went missing I would be pleading to her attacker or abudcter not her...

Also very odd that they cant be straight on the facts of who last saw her.

the statement of the step grandfather was very very strange...and she didnt go out with her phone...

I fear there is more to this story.

madda - that's ridiculous.

Didnt the stop reporting when the parents of those poor children who died in the fire a few months were being questioned by police, I am assuming the police put out what we need to know about thing,
