The title says it all really.Brother and fiancée are getting married overseas next month but are legally getting hitched here first in a registry office.Only just told me when. On my 2nd wedding anniversary. Bit pissed off. Would you be?

No, I wouldn't mind. I don't think anyone celebrates wedding anniversaries except the couple themselves, do they? And when you're having your Silver etc, then they will still be a couple of years behind.

no - why should it bother you? You can have a double celebration or you can ignore it. Plenty more things to be pissed off about IMO. I would be surprised if my siblings even knew the date of my wedding anniversary

Not really no. Sorry.

I usually forget about our anniversary every year, as does my husband. So no, I wouldn't be upset. Is it really such a big deal? Could you not celebrate another day?

Why? Sorry but it's only your 2nd anniversary so don't get what the problem is.

I probably wouldn't be bothered. Anniversaries are only special to those celebrating it unless you both intend on having massive celebrations every year, in which case you'd have a problem Confused

Did they remember that it was your wedding anniversary? What did they say when you told them?

JumpingThroughHoops · 04/08/2012 17:25

No. Because in my experience, the only people that remember wedding anniversaries are the bride and groom.

YABU because you dont' "own" the date. And being 2 years adrift, it will never coincide with any significant anniversary party you may choose to have.

No, not at all

What are you worried about?

Report
roteelefant · 04/08/2012 17:25

Would I be pissed? Nope. Not one bit.
esp as it is only the offical bit - their wedding in the one overseas, I guess that is the one they will 'celebrate'
You don't own the date- I'm sure thousands of things happened on that day.

Ok ok I get it- unreasonable! Just checking as I think my dislike for my future SIL is clouding my better judgement. Obviously!

No, chances are they haven't realised it is your anniversary, I don't know when my brother's is. The only reason I might be a bit annoyed is if we had already arranged a holiday or weekend away for the same date and had to cancel.

No-one remembers our anniversary. Not even the bridesmaids including my sister

Report
BlueMoonFergie · 04/08/2012 17:33

Not even a little bit. Be surprised if siblings even realised tbh. It's only the legal one anyway. They'll prob celebrate their anniversary on the actual date of the over seas wedding.
