AIBU?

to be completely, totally and utterly sick and fed up of rain...?

Have tried valiantly to put brave face on and be positive but just been at the allotment, actually watching the weeds gaily sally forth whilst all the veg is stubbornly hunched up and refusing to move like a coachload of old ladies sitting in a shelter on Blackpool pier on a rained off day out.

The chickens, who normally run towards me delightedly were similarly hunched and wet looking, contemplating me in a slightly threatening, sinister manner from under a fringe of dripping leaves.

Just purchased a new bike so that I can accompany 6 yr old ds on bike rides, but am nervous about riding on wet grass, mud and even roads to be fair. (It's been a long time, as my ass with agree)!

My entire house looks like some kind of clothes based modern art installation as every free surface is draped with damp washing and every available hook and knob (bar 2) has coat hangers crammed with the same!

Heating on and soup for lunch in July? Howl!!!!!!!!! Boo-bloody-hoo!!!!!!!!!!

Know what you mean, BS my dh, who abhors leaving the country for hols, (although has done a few times for our benefit) actually suggested a fortnight in Lanzerote because he is so sick of the rain, but unfortunately funds don't allow...

Nope, I'm thoroughly fed up with it now as well.

I've been looking at a week's self catering in Menorca, I'm desperate to leave the house without getting soaked and to wear some of my summer clothes

I'm past caring about hot weather and sun now, please just stop raining!

I love the rain! But that is partly because we moved to East Anglia 2 years ago after 7 years in the SW and it seemed like it didn't rain at all for the whole 2 years. I like October and November to be wet and windy, not sunny and warm enough to have lunch outside. As far as I'm concerned this is just nature catching up with herself :)

YANBU. This is the first time I've ever contemplated getting a tumble drier. the cats are soggy and miserable. The lawn is getting long because mowing it is difficult as its so damned wet. I'm on my second day of maternity leave and bored sick plus have loads of baby clothes I want to wash and hang on the line to flap merrily in the sun shine. I want to sit in garden with drink and a book enjoying sunshine. Doing the school run is horrible.

Its July for gods sake its meant to be high summer and to top it all I half heard a long range forecast that said it will stay wet and horrible all through the bl**dy school holidays and then in September we'll have a heat wave.

I'm hot, sticky, heavily pregnant and miserable.

Whinge whinge whinge

Dp started his own gardening business in April. He has such a backlog at the minute he might have to hire some-one to help (though we can't afford help and i have to watch dd's) Our customers must be getting fed up of their overgrown grass/weeds but dp doesn't like to cut the grass in the rain as it goes all mulchy (is that a word?) He has done a few digging jobs (borders). Really hope it all picks up or the business is going to die before its had a chance, because unless we get a very mild winter we're only going to have august-early october for jobs :(

This really isn't natural for me, I'm from southern California, and have justified my preference for the UK over the last 8 years as "at least when I open the front door in the summer, it doesn't feel like I'm opening a hot oven!" But so far this summer has me seriously feeling homesick and think I'd run screaming all the way to the airport if it wasn't for my tumble dryer!

i prefer it. I don't do well in hot weather. Give me a cool breeze and the pitter patter of rain on my window any day.

LaQueen, I'm the same, I don't mind the rain at all. And I love autumn and winter, shutting my curtains against the dark and lashing rain, hearing the wind howl down the chimney, etc. But it is the utter relentlessness of this that is making me just want to lie down and cry, especially knowing that we should be having at least a bit of warmth and sun, given the season. Really hope things in County Kerry are better for you.
