AIBU?

to get bored silly by other people's holiday photos?

I have several friends who are very keen on sharing their holiday photos.

I've had to sit through DVDs, sets of photos, and printed photobooks.

Not just handed to me so I can flick through as fast or slow as I like and ask questions about the interesting ones either. I mean with friend taking several minutes per photo to tell me all about the photo. It can take hours and hours and hours to get through them.

It's not just one friend either, I have several different friends and relatives who do this.

Am I being unreasonable in wanting to throw photos out the window to end the ordeal getting terribly bored?

Or do I need to continue trying my very best to appear interested in yet another scenic shot of countryside that looks almost identical to that in the last 100 photos?

YABU I love looking at any photos. Admittedly at least half the time I am (silently) criticising their photographic technique Wink

See, this is where facebook comes into it's own. Other people's holiday snaps are fucking dull. But when they put them on fb I always have a flick through - because I can scan them as quickly as I like.

Travel stories and holiday storied are the dullest. I would to have a red chair type thing like graham norton to eject travelling anecdote tellers whcih are as dull as shit.

I absolutely love other peoples photos and not in a critical judgeypants way
that's probably why I love The Facebook so much!

Don't mind holiday photos, it's the Facebook pet photos that I find extremely tedious.

YANBU

I once arrived in a foreign country and my new flatmates had organised a photo party for me where I sat through 3 hours of slides of Azerbaijan. Yes, I was bored.

This is why facebook is great, you can look through if you want to and not if you don't.

Do people still do DVDs, sets of photos, and printed photobooks and paper copies of holiday photographs, not seen this for years x

Sparkiling - a women at work, who dislikes me with a passion, for work reasons only lol- brought in her daughters wedding album with about 20 million photos and made me sit through it for about 2 hours.......she got her revenge on me that day ha ha, she also had calenders that she put up in every office, not just 12 month ones but 18 month ones.......I don't even know her daughter....

Grin Nuck how tedious. Wedding photos-just show me one, with the bride and groom in it, and that's me done. If I don't know the bride and groom don't bother.

Plus one baby photo is adequate too ta. Grin

Misslinnet either you need some new friends or you need to stop looking so absorbed when they wheel out the pics....Wink

YANBU at all, other peoples' holiday pics are completely dull. As are other peoples' baby photos - one is nice - 'ooh yes he's cute' etc - but then the next 30 showing baby pulling slightly different faces.... yawn....

I do like inspecting wedding photos though - just to check out what people were wearing really

I'll let her off then Grin

I think it's sweet but I do worry her friends might start hiding!

YADDDNBU.
I've sat through four whole wallets of holiday photos from the same person before. I was losing the will to live by wallet three.

I've also sat through a 40 minute holiday video taken by DB and DSIL. Of trees, volcanoes and... well that was it really. Apart from her mother sitting on the toilet.

I hate other people's photos. Especially if it's nowhere I've been or have interest in.

I think photos should be produced only if asked for. The only exception is cat and kitten photos which I will gladly look at at anytime. Grin

Glad to hear it's not just me Grin

And yes, Nuckinfutter people do still get printed photobooks. I recently sat through a lecture on which supermarket said photobook was ordered from, and the merits of a photobook from there compared to the other supermarkets. Before getting to the pictures.

You've also reminded me of one time at work - a recently married colleague booked the video-conference room so she could show everyone her wedding DVD. Although to be fair, some of us had been invited to the wedding. Halfway through, the photographer screwed up the music. Instead of photos set to lovey dovey music, he'd put 'Every Day I Love You Less and Less' by Kaiser Chiefs on as the background song Shock Colleague had only watched the first bit at home so it came as a surprise to her too....

Dump the bastards. YANBU. None of my friends have ever been so cruel.

I do like Facebook is for such things. I see sibling is in America, nice. Friend is in Spain. Another has amusing photo in Italy. Interesting for a seconds. Then I post mine, my parents will like the photos of the kids, everyone else can pass them by. Job done.
