AIBU?

A IBU to predict which shops will close next?

I am pretty sure I won't be allowed to name them on here but it seems to me that the places where customer service is poor or resting on its laurels are the shops that will be closing down before those where staff actually try to engage with their customers and find out how they can help them. In my town it seems to be well established high street stores (going since at least the 80s) who are just not doing what they could to offer good customer service. And they.ll be next to close....

Oh yes...Monsoon! They're ageing in the same way as The Sock Shop did! Badly....they seem SO 90s now.

Prepare to be flamed - a previous thread like this didn't go down too well, it is rather distasteful "Administration Bingo"

Agree WHSmith, it's not really sure what it wants to be. Although I do love a look when I'm on holiday.

Boots - at least they won't be able to do anymore shite sexist adverts. Feel sorry for any staff losing their jobs though Sad Most of the shops on our high street are closing down now. We just have discount stores and charity shops now Sad

Lush?

I really like their products, but I hate the way the staff are forced to besiege customers with advice as soon as they set foot in the shop.

Boots? Nooooo! Never.

WHSmith, oh yes.

I used to think it was called 'whi-smith'. Always hated them, still do. Along with RSMcColl which I think might just be Scottish. At least John Menzies are long gone.

I agree with WHSmith -I really can't see how they keep going.

Others that I've never been into but always look empty of customers include Country Casuals and M&Co

Boots....yes, because supermarkets can provide it all much cheaper, as can superdrug/savers/poundland/lloyds

Body shop, they don't sell anything special any more. We used to love the giant jars of perfume and the animal flannels.

Argos, even if they went online only, the website is shockingly slow.

The man that owns monsoon is in the top 10 wealthiest retailers in the country and the company owns rather than rents many of it's stores, just because you don't shop in a certain place does not mean it is in trouble.

If it was based on poor customer services then hopefully BA would be gone next.

I also think Boden are on their way out - rarely a day passes when they don't have a sale on.

HMV/ or any game/ music/ dvd provider is on borrowed time.

Surely Currys and Dixons will go soon? Theyre sooo expensive, and there are hundreds of cheap online electronics/appliance retailers.

I like WH Smiths - where else can you get the full range of magazines?

My vote is for Clarks - great but overpriced shoes, staff who are few and appalling.

Hopefully not Waterstones although I do find it hard to believe that it costs £8 for a paperback these days.
