AIBU?

To wish I had been old enough to enjoy the 80s?

Just listening to some brilliant 80s songs on my iPod and was just thinking that I would have loved to have been in my teens/ twenties to have been able to enjoy the music, fashion, movies etc. I think the music especially, was brilliant, such a great mix of everything to suit all tastes. I was born in the eighties, so I can sort of remember the 90s, which were also fab, but the last decade I think, has been crap, music wise. AIBU?

YABU...

just for making me feel bloody old!!!!!

Yes, it was a great decade to be a teenager though. The music was brilliant, the fashions were different, movies are still classics now.

I was a teen in the 80's (born in 69 so the 80's were my whole teen years), and there is nothing at all about the 90's that stands out for me.. absolutely nothing. Cant really recall any good music, and fashion was boring too...

The 80's were just brilliant.

I didnt really have shoulder pads, or big hair. My icons were Hazel O'Connor (who I have since met many times in real life, and she is lovely to chat with - quite amazing, when I used to have her posters all over my wall back then), the dark hair girl (Joanne) in Human League... and a lot of the more alternative girl bands.

I also loved Gary Numan, and have met him in real life a few times too as he is/was a friend of a good mate, and he is a complete prick in RL.. lol!

Dammit, now I feel old. So YABU to make me feel like that. Some parts of the 80s were fab, others were very very naff.

it was fab but clothes were hard to find unless you had £££

i remember making my own clothes all the time and butchering other things to make it just so

looking back that was probably quite fun though!

I spent my twenties in the 80s. Worked in London in financial services related media. Wow what a ride - the Big Bang, privatisation, miners' strike, poll tax riots, royal weddings, you name it, we experienced it for good and ill.

Much more interesting times than the 90s when, as far as I recall, nothing happened Grin. The country was sleeping off the 80s I reckon.

nah the big bang wasn't in the 80s. The universe was created way back when the people who are old now were young, so maybe the 60s Confused

Ah twas great

Apart from the fashion yes. I went on a date once wearing a white jump suit, red beads (you know, the ONLY style of beads that could be bought back then, namely, round), red court shoes, a red waspy belt clutching a red handbag. My lips were a brazen red (Constance Carroll) my hair had been backcombed to within an inch of it''s life, sprayed with an entire can of Silverkin and I emptied the last of my "Charlie" perfume over myself.

Never saw him again Confused Grin
