AIBU?

To think that a mum I have never met before

should not wander off and leave me with her tres annoying 6yo while I wait for dd to come out of the shower at the swimming pool without asking if it is ok. Confused

Trying to MN in peace and said child will not stop talking, showing me stuff & demanding attention. Also keeps standing on tiptoe to see what is on my phone. Mum wandered off without a word nearly 10 minutes ago, as soon as the dd started talking to me and I wasn't rude enough to ignore her.

I know she might have had a long and tiring day, and perhaps she was just desperately in need of a break. I'm probably just being mean & grumpy, but I have had a long and tiring day too.

I wouldn't have minded if she had just asked if I could keep an eye on the dc for a moment...

Completely out of order, you might have been an axe-wielding homicidal maniac instead of a harmless MNer! Shock

Perhaps she doesn't want you to keep an eye on her DC?

YANBU. Why is her child your responsibility?

To be fair, she may not want me to keep an eye on her, but the dc has no intention of being left unattended. The mum was hovering until the moment I responded to her dd's questions, and then took off like lightening.

LOL NatashaBee

I would probably walk off, but not before telling little dear its probably time she found her mum. Maybe the mother will realise that you should ask first. for all she knows you could have been in a hurry!

Smile sweetly, then hiss quietly "go away!" Wink

Can't take her to reception as can't leave my dd on her own in shower. The kid is harmless enough, I am probably BU not to talk to her, but I just wanted a few minutes of peace.

Have you asked the child where the Mum is?

Report
GrahamTribe · 26/04/2012 18:35

It's only a problem if you stand there and take it. She's not your child, you don't have to. Instead of complaining, walk away!

And I'm sorry, that came over as harsher than I intended it to. :)

Are you leaving your DD to drown in that shower?

Report
Whoopydofoxpoo · 26/04/2012 18:37

If you are watching DD shower did the mother wander off to - has she completely gone out of sight ?

Report
Jinsei · 26/04/2012 18:38

Mum has come back, & they have gone. She did say thank you.

Cheeky SOB! So she did just walk off with the expectation that you would supervise/entertain her annoying child. Shock
