Which village? I'm grasping at straws here. Please.

FashionEaster Mon 23-Apr-12 21:43:12

Possibly too far south, but Olney is nice

Think the Bramptons are also nice, which is north.

blapbird Tue 24-Apr-12 00:27:57

the town itself is just average but the villages and countryside are vast and beautiful

SnakebiteRattlinBoogaloo Tue 24-Apr-12 00:28:44

Well I've been here since October and can't say I'm particularly excited about it.

The only thing it's got going for it so far for us is a fab soft play with bouncy castles where I can let the kids run free for 2hrs for a great little price of £2.75 grin

fullofregrets Tue 24-Apr-12 00:29:59

Not much. I went in one of the bars. It smelt like wee. I left.

blapbird Tue 24-Apr-12 00:31:10

AndFanjoWasHisNameO Tue 24-Apr-12 00:34:13

It's my birthplace - Barratt Maternity Hospital - and probably hasn't changed that much since the early '70s. If it still has a stand alone maternity hospital that would be one thing going for it. Apart from that I can't think
of anything.

PeriPathetic Tue 24-Apr-12 07:00:37

@Cheerup - DD was born there!

Northampton is vile. Glad I'm out of there. Not happy about possibly moving back in a couple of years sad

DollyBantry Tue 24-Apr-12 07:01:47

Lovely villages and countryside. Town itself is a complete sh*thole.

msrisotto Tue 24-Apr-12 07:04:27

Aww I grew up in a gorgeous little conservation village in northants. Yeah the town centre leaves a lot to be desired but you know, it has plus points! It's not far to milton keynes for shopping....

chezchaos Tue 24-Apr-12 07:06:02

Sywell is gorgeous

fairyqueen Tue 24-Apr-12 07:09:19

Near Rushden you'll find Stanwick Lakes, which is the best outdoor playarea in the world IMHO. Lots of climbing, water, sand etc. DD has 'stanwick clothes' because she gets so muddy there, but so very, very happy. Shes 9 and has years left before she grows out of it. There's also a lovely walk around the lake, with distractions every so often such as a rope bridge, straw bales and a massive swing. It is quite simply the best place for kids ever, and i wish we could go more often. (a long way from us but close to grandma)

Not much else though.
