why does he always do that? yes, i live i a nice house in a nice area, but so do most of the people in the practice. and that means sod all anyways. of course its going to be nhs. and if that means an 18 week wait, well, its still only 18 weeks till he gets treatment from superbly qualified professionals. etc etc etc.

On your other thread you did say your DH was a higher tax rate payer so "it's not like he can't afford it" (your statement) so based on that I guess whoever "he" is assumes you may well go private because you can afford it?

If this is your GP presumably it is best if they check whether people have the option of a private route so they know how to plan the referrals?
Even people in less nice houses etc sometimes have BUPA through work or something.

Well my GP knows we have private health cover so always refers accordingly.

I doubt he pays much attention to your house to be honest - he/she is just being thorough which is surely a good thing.

lentilly is correct. this is the least of my problems. and its a bad habit of mine, that i stress about the tiny minute unimportant stuff when i have other, huge, bigger issues to deal with. a sick child is certainly a problem, but its tonsils, so i am not overly worried about it. iyswim.

18 weeks may be half a year. but no matter how much 'd'h earns, private wont be a possibility for us.

he is a very good doctor, and as someone pointed out, he is simply covering all the bases. and I am very pleased that we are lucky enough to have him and the practice with all its excellent health professionals. that may sound trite, but i am honestly grateful to have them all

They ask everyone - it's standard practice IME. Perhaps you are more worried about your son than you think and that's why you have decided a question asked of everyone is somehow personal to you.

18 weeks isn't half a year - 26 weeks is. So it's not even as long as you thought. OP YANBU and I hope your DC feels better soon
