5 and 2 year old wear a vest...though they need new ones. They generally don't wear one from may-October ish though. Depending on the weather

My ds is 4 1/2 and always wears a vest, unless it is the height of summer.

My boys, 6 and 9 wear vests. I buy lovely ones in M&S or H&M, they are really nice soft cotton, in grey marl, blue or white. Not babyish ones.

My Ds is almost 5 and wears a vest every day except really hot days!

My DD stayed in baby vests (the ones with poppers) until she was 2.5 and started potty training. The day she started potty training she graduated to wearing vests and knickers. She still wears vests aged 4...I thought this was normal until she graduates to wearing a bra. Is it not normal for a child to wear a vest? confused

YANBU and it sounds like your DH is being over-careful about his son not being seen as a wimp or something. Explain to him that ALL small boys wear vests. Tell him MN SAID! grin

My four age 9, 7, dts 5 all wear vests right up until they go back to school after the Easter holidays, then they wear their summer uniform.

Both of my DDs (5 and 9) wear vests when it's cold (as do I!) but not in the summer. At this time of year they are sometimes wearing them and sometimes not. Sometimes they will layer a T-shirt under a long-sleeve top instead.

My 9yo dd wears a vest. She dressed herself and choses to wear one when it's cold. 4yo and "too old" makes me a bit sad. Like when my dd got laughed at in reception for wearing peppa pig knickers sad

My husband is 40 and wears a vest. I do, in bed on very cold nights.

They're a practical item, not a statement of any sort.

DS wears two tshirts, as lovely relatives keep buying him tops, so he generally has a long sleeved t under a short sleeved one. Today he is rocking a shark t over a Greenpeace henely top. But he may as well be wearing a vest.

My 7 yr old will wear a vest all year round if possible, my nearly 6yr old always feels too hot and I think maybe once this winter he agreed to wear one (it was snowing). he's moved into shorts for summer now as well hmm.
I think it depends on the child - but at 4 it's your decision.

My husband who is in his mid thirties still wears vests too...I hate it when men wear white shirts and you can see their nipples through it, I think all men should wear vests.
