Yes Ocado, I am looking at YOU.

Did my second Ocado shop on monday, delivered tuesday. I decided to get my vegetables from there rather than the greengrocers since DS has been poorly all week and it was just easier. All of it has gone off. I am unimpressed TO THE MAX

-A bag of carrot batons - OFF
-A bag of diced swede/squash - OFF
-Bag of stir-fry veg - OFF
-Bag of Cox's apples - OFF (with all brown shit oozing out of them BOAK)
-Winanas - OFF
-Bag o spuds - sprouting already.

Eff you Ocado! Eff you in the A hole Angry

Well that's a load of crap.

I know it is a MN standard statement of boredom, but have a look at Lidl - their fruit and veg are great, and are not tasteless and half rotten like most of the rest of the supermarkets.

Complain! I would, it's NOT acceptable.

Is Lidl OK for vegetables/fruit then? Cos Aldi fruit and veg is whack.

Buppy - why are you speaking like someone who lives in Detroit.

You need to turn off Maury and stop speaking da lingo. Grin

Yes Lidl is great for fruit and veg - really excellent imo.

I hardly ever go to Aldi so don't know how it compares but know it is a LOT better than tesco.

Yuk - Complain. Did the prepared veg have sell by dates?

Really rubbish that, Id be complaining.<br /> On our list of reasons we are moving to spain, No. 43 in fact is "Its really hard to get decent veg that stays fresh in the UK - (unless youre minted)"

They all have a sell-by date on; the first sell-by date is today on some strawberries that bizarrely haven't gone off Confused most of them run into next week!

I'd complain too. If was just one item I wouldn't bother but for all those to go off so soon.

ExitPursuedByABear · 16/03/2012 15:52

If they have gone off well before the sell by date then there must be a problem somewhere. I should contact the head honcho at Ocado and do a big complain - you may get free goodies.

I do think lidl fruit and veg is better flavour but haven't seen ready prepared vegetables in lidl.

I would complain too, whilst their fruit & veg isn't as good as Lidl it is normally better than Tesco. this isn't my normal experience of Ocado.

I've had this with Ocado, mainly with potatoes which sometimes started sprouting the day after delivery. I tend to buy most of my fruit and veg in Lidl, the market or the local Asian supermarket now, all of them have produce that lasts longer and usually tastes better

I find this with the loose veg in our local Sainsburys. 2-3 days after buying it has gone off. I tend to buy veg as I need it now as got so annoyed chucking it all out week after week.

I actually wasny that impressed with lidl this time. Sprouty potatoes and floury, tasteless apples. Will give them another go tho

What are winanas?

Report
cakewench · 16/03/2012 16:10

Definitely complain. Especially if the dates aren't until next week. I know prepared veg go off quicker than regular veg but if they are well within their dates, you should reasonably expect them to still be good.

BupcakesandCunting · 16/03/2012 16:27

Winanas? Did I type that out loud? Blush

It's a mispronunciation of bananas by DS that seems to have stuck in my vernacular.

Strokes my lovely fresh local greengrocers with fruit and veg that stays fresh for ages.

Definitely complain. They should refund it all.

I googled winanas - they are gospil singers, couldn't see how they would fit int he fruit bowl Grin

Definitely complain, I always do if anything is off before or on use by date, you don't even have cost of petrol going to store! Drop them an email, they will prob ask you for the info on the pack (code near the barcode that as supplier info) and the date.

I knew this would be Ocado. Waitrose is as bad!

It's worse in Summer when the turn the fridges to uber cold and everything turns to slop

Icelollycraving · 16/03/2012 17:26

Had this with ocado. Get it refunded, they do it with no hassle. Annoying when you can't get out to get fresh though. I think morrisons & m&s have great fresh produce.
