AIBU to think that frankly there are better, more important things to be doing and that in all honesty once they're on the bed you can hardly tell. Also teatowels for that matter (have a friend who does this). DM seems to think it is v important to ensure all items are ironed. Perhaps a generational thing?

Or am I being lazy?

My MIL is horrified that I don't iron bedding. I iron as little as possible, tbh.

I hate the look of creased crumpled bedding on a freshly made bed, so I do fold sheets and duvet covers over twice and then give them a quick iron, it only takes five minutes and looks so much better.

My mum has only just stopped ironing knickers!

I don't iron tea towels, or nightwear. I know some people that dab socks with the iron, no way would I do that!

Life is too short not to iron sheets! Or duvet covers anyway. I never used to but started recently and to be honest it is a revelation...its such a lovely feeling sliding under crisp ironed thick cotton bedding, so much nicer than crumpled limp specimens.

YANBU if you have better things to do with your time - but I'm afraid that your newly made up beds just won't look as nice as mine.

I find that the time spent ironing passes really quickly with a huge glass of sauv blanc nice cup of tea and come dine with me antiques roadshow on the telly.

I iron most things but now draw the line at doing DH's boxers - not because I don't love him but because once a pair of unwashed ones sneaked into the laundry basket... That steamy experience is not one you get over quickly.

I would much rather iron my sheet than spend time pegging it out tightly on the line or precisely folding it the moment the tumble drier finishes. It only takes five minutes to iron sheet, duvet cover and 6 pillow cases and the difference is lovely.

Haqving come across fleas/bedbugs/scabies etc in my job, YES IRON THE SHEETS especially the seams, could save one stray preganant bedbug becoming an infestation that takes a year to clear and costs thousand, especially if you live in London, you could bring bedbugs home with you pretty much any day.
Dishclothes are sterilised by ironing, if you want them sterilised. Good idea if you have someone in the family on chemo, or anything like that.
