Rant away, I'm always tidying and my dd is only nearly 5 months old, not even crawling yet, god knows what it will be like when she is!

YANBU, we managed to get out this morning so the guilt factor of not doing anything has gone and now sorting and cleaning the kitchen.

Am doing same OP - gutting out the little ones' room.

I comfort myself with the fact that it will make the working week easier to cope with....and we are going to the cinema tonight.

YANBU and I have a SAHD, but things not on the list don't get done. Angry

Then it's a standoff and I normally cave in and do it all.

Not today though, I've done some baking and cleared up after that and I'm writing a huge list for DH to get off his arse on with this week.

Me too if I don't spend one day cleaning and tidying at the weekend the whole week is just a nightmare. Luckily dc's are at there dads so I can get on with it uninterrupted today.

YANBU. (Have you tried sprinkling bicarbonate of soda on the carpet and leaving it for a couple of hours before hoovering?)

Dee - you don't have a cleaning problem, you have a discipline problem Grin

You have 3 'big' boys. They need training!! Your DIL's will thank you!!

  • Tell them that their stuff needs to go tidily in their rooms or it will go in the big black bag.

  • Their dishes need to go in the dishwasher/tidily on the side.

  • Sort out a dishes/dishwasher unloading rota

  • Daily vacumming rota

  • Dirty clothes in laundry baskets

    Get those boys sorted!!

Good idea in theory Chipping Smile
They are supposed to do various chores but I seem to spend all my time shouting at them to actually do them...
But after me having a good rant today I've just come back from an hours dog walk and my middle ds has dried up and cleaned kitchen worktops, hoovered the lounge and tidied and polished...bless Grin

I've had the very same rant today! How do people manage to sit around at weekends when there's so much constantly needing doing?? GRRR!

I made a concious effort today to just sit on my arse and MN google christmas recipes as DH and DS were playing Mario Kart. Why should I be roaming around like the hired help scrubbing bathrooms when they're content to laze around all day?

I did give in eventually to make a roast dinner but I roped DS in to help out Wink

Yanbu!

I need to do more tidying. I just ignore and laze about on MN all day and then the state of my house makes me panicky.

Dee - that was a nice surprise! :)

Carrot or stick - one or the other will work. No need to spend hours shouting. Just let them know what the harsh consequences of not doing their given jobs will be, don't nag, ask, whinge or moan, just give the rewards or consequences as appropriate. The silent 'you know the deal' approach works well.

Yabu - leave it! No one ever syas on their death bed that they wish they cleaned more but they do list a million other things they didn't do because they were cleaning. Do a couple of hours of the most important jobs then go and do what you really want to do. And get everyone else involved as well - even my 2 year old has jobs to do (putting his toys away and putting his dirty clothes in the landry bag)

When I say yabu, hope you understand that is light hearted! :-)

Dee03* - my DC3 was sick down the inside of the radiator in the hallway recently. Used rather a lot of bicarb!
