To let my DS go to the cinema.

My DS wants to see the new Twightlight film. She is 12 in 2 weeks time. She wants to go straight from school down into town and catch the bus back(about 12 miles) with at least one friend. She would have to walk from the cinema to the bus station in the dark although it is pretty well lit. Her best friend has been refused permission but I'm not sure. My DH is saying she is too young.

It is a 12A, so an adult would have to be in there with her. Is her friend younger or older than her?

I would probably let them do it but collect them from cinema rather than have them come home by bus - would that be possible?

Also is the film a 12 certificate and will she be 12 by then? I would make sure she has some id. I once had the experience of dropping my then 13 year old DS and friend off at the pictures. I wanted to pay for them, let them watch film alone and collect them at the end. They wouldn't take my word that DS was 12 (he is on the small side). I was forced to go into the film with them and it was some dreadful boy thing! It was obviously fine but I imagine an experience like that could be pretty stressful for the average just 12 year old if mum wasn't there to deal with it.

Do you know I never thought of the age thing! She won't be 12 by then. To collect her I would have to travel in and back by bus which will cost £10 as DH is saying he won't pick her up and I can't drive. Looks like it's going to be a no then.
