I'm quite disapointed because I was expecting to read it was all octogenarian 'Mr Burns' types waving banknotes at gullible young women in return for favours. Then I read the part about the 'dancefloor is lined with men, mostly over 40'.... (OMG!!!!! Positively OAPS!!!!! Revolting!!!!) A lot of women are quite open about wanting to find a rich partner. Market forces?...

Is it not prostitution with a fancy name?

meh. Couldn't really care either way. I'm not that interested in money but everyone has different priorities.

why would you want to be with ac women, when you know full well she only likes the size of your wallet?

Its just sad really.

very sad, but each to their own i suppose

wonkylegs · 25/10/2011 13:16

yep sounds like prostitution to me
depressing that people actually want to be involved in this

TobyLeWolef · 25/10/2011 13:17

Meh. Can't see the problem, tbh. Nobody is forcing either party to be there, and each is getting something out of it.

Yes, I am another one who calls it 'prostitution'.

I can't see anyones arm being forced into this situation.

They are all greedy adults.

I'm curious as to what the criteria for attending is.

Do the woman have to be of a certain age/ attractiveness?

Do the men have to have a certain amount of cash?

I ask because I'm 39, and if DH dropped dead I could do with a sugar daddy.

Obviously it's prostitution. But the nicest possible type.

So young girls go to parties to offer themselves to be available on demand to older men in return for cash and gifts?

Report
HecateGoddessOfTheNight · 25/10/2011 13:27

I do like the organiser's response when told that it was basically prostitution

"No it's not. It's an understanding between both parties as adults to move forward at an introductory level that there's going to be compensation."

erm. Hmm

Poor old monique

"I'm looking to advance myself to the next level," she admits. "It's not just about the money, it's about what a successful person can do for you.

"It's almost an inspirational thing."

CuntryManner · 25/10/2011 13:34

Oh wow.

It is prostitution.

I thought "escorting" was a bad enough name but a "sugar daddy party"? Well, well.

Sounds like a hateful ghastly meat market. The thought of a collective group of leery ageing males in expensive suits surveying the nubile wares. Ghastly. But younger ladies who go in for this stuff must be a cynical bunch themselves - after all, they've defined the honey money concept and milk it for all it's worth. Can you imaging overhearing the conversations? [retching sounds]

Who was it said "It is a truth universally acknowledged that a single man in posession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife"? ... :) 1813 she wrote that and, if you are flexible about the definition of 'wife' and 'single', not much has changed.

Remember overhearing some young women on a train once discussing a friend who was 'so beautiful she could easily get herself a footballer'... cynical bunch indeed.

A sad state of affairs when the pinnacle of boyfriend material for young women represents the football fraternity - what terrible taste they have. Give me Brian Cox any day!

Love Alan Schneider's inability to decide as to WHY these women might be looking for a wrinkly old cashbag:

"A lot of these women here tonight may be very wealthy but they want to feel like ladies and to be with a man who can provide for them"

or

"Traditional relationships of men being the provider and women being the caretaker of the family are coming back now," he says. "They're coming back because of the economy."

Hmmm so which is it?....the women are either there because the recession is forcing women out of jobs or they're there because they're very wealthy. Oh Alan. Your delusion cracked for a second but you quickly plastered over it.

Yes, it's another form of sex work. But it's being freely entered into and therefore no one else's business.

"Like a regular boyfriend but richer.
