To have carpet in the bathroom?

I know you're all going to recoil in horror at the idea but I'm really fed up of cold floors.

I want to step out of bath onto the warmth and comfort of carpet. Yes I have a ds and yes he often misses but I'll get one of those shaped rug things that goes round the base of the loo.

Dh disagrees and wants to put fecking lino down! But he also said if the majority of you lot agree with me I can have my shag pile!

Please please please can I have carpet or aibu?

I love carpet in the bathroom!

Much less worry about children slipping and falling also.

My mum had carpet in the bathroom. It's only a matter of time before it gets nasty lol

YANBU. My parents have carpet. It's been down since my brother and I were mid-teens and still doesn't smell or have ghastly stains. Do it!

I have carpet in the bathroom ever since I slipped on the floor and ended up with 6 stiches in my head and a horrendous black eye!

Oh yes! Have a lovely deep pile Axminster that will really trap the odours and wetness. Nom nom.

But what does it get nasty with? If I give it a good clean every so often surely it will be fine?

Carpet - but only if you want p**s soaked in there and a permanent smell of urine. You know a rug won't work. Wear some slippers or shower shoes.

Nice thick towel on the floor, easy to wash. You probably have a toilet in the bathroom, so carpet is a definite no-no IMO, very very unhygenic if you think of it.

Nice vinyl floor plus washable bathmats. Fitted carpet in a bathroom is minging.

If we dry off in the shower before getting out it's not going to get too wet

YABU!

What you want is a really luxurious bathmat or twelve.

We viewed a house recently that had carpet not only on the bathroom floors but also UP THE SIDES OF THE BATH. My dh was like this Shock (not British and wasn't here in the 70s)

We have always had carpet in the bathroom. And it doesn't smell. I can't bear tiles or laminate flooring - like something warm and cosy underfoot!

No, Grin I think it can be done!

You just have to treat it , and take good care of it ...expect it to need looking after.

Regularly use something round the loo area , something natural-ish if possible.

My Dad has carpet one of his bathrooms...its fine ,no smells nothing!

Most bathrooms are tiny and if you accept that you need to change it every year or so until your son is a bit older that's fine. It should cost less than 100 quid to change it. You can often find offcuts to fit a bathroom.

Yes, carpet in the bathroom is horrible. I was horrified years ago to discover my brand new flat came with carpet in the bathroom when I had expected lino! Took it out and replaced with cork tiles, lovely, so warm and not slippery, easy to fit too. I put lino tiles in my next bathroom for a change and totally regretted not sticking with the cork. Hmm, now wondering why I don't have cork tiles in my current kitchen (bathroom is wooden floor)...
