If you're having your wedding 300 miles away from where you live, don't have it on a Thursday in term time fgs.

But people do not plan their wedding around friends childcare arrangements... YABU. smile

You can always say you dont wish to save the date and cant go!

Decline, decline, decline.

Weddings are stupid, anyhow.

YANBU, that's really annoying in those particular circumstances.

I assume nothing is booked yet, if it's a 'save the date' rather than an invitation (or are they the same thing?)

Just thinking that if enough people are unable to go, they might change it!

TBH it wouldn´t occur to me to go.

I´d let my husband decide what he wanted to do.

Our wedding was on a Thursday and that was the perfect day of the week. Half of our guests flew in from abroad . They travelled at the weekend either side and had a few days of holiday before the big day.

It's pretty easy to take children out of school for a wedding, as long as they don't have GCSE modules on that day.

"and expect people to be able to come. "

Perhaps they don´t expect it though.

They´ve told people in enough time to make any arrangements necessary.

What people noenow decide to do is up to them.

Maybe it was a lot cheaper to do it midweek. Or that day is very special to them. Or they think it will be cheaper if lots of people can't make it.

Unfortunately one of the problems of a bride and groom that come from different areas is that one half of family and friends will end up having to travel a long way. It is a pain when you end up having to use lots of holiday though - any chance of turning into a mini holiday and incorporating the weekend too?

Yanbu. I'll never understand why people have to make something as nice as a wedding overly complicated.
