AIBU?

To be annoyed at some items on my friends wedding list

I really don't know if I have a right to be mad at this but I am. My friend is getting married next month and we have discussed the wedding list. She decided to go with white denby. Very nice. She was at my house last month and commented on my nice Jamie Oliver dinner set. It's white with a little stripe pattern. I love it. I have just logged on to her wedding list and there is no white denby. In it's place is Jamie Oliver's entire set! I am a little miffed.

Confused....must be thousands of households with that set.

You need to be more original with what you have in your house....

YABU.

Does it really matter if you have the same plates as your friend??

Get a grip. Enough said.

YABU, but so is she. Who'd want Jamie Oliver more than Denby when other people are paying for it?

How big is Jamies set?

Is it massive? Does he have a massive set?

You do realise this is nuts, don't you?

Report

Whats the problem? she has seen your set and likes it, thats what people do, if you see someone wearing a nice coat you would ask them 'where did you buy it from' and then go and buy one. Does it really matter?? Hmm

A wedding list thread - excellent Grin. And a particularly silly one too.

Er yes. YABU. Very. Unless you base your identity on your china. Do you?

Ha. Was this the quickest "oh, I am indeed being unreasonable" of all time.

:o

At least you can borrow some of her dished if you are having a lot of people over for a meal.

KatieMortician · 20/10/2011 13:55

That's a good idea MmeLindor. Friend comes over for dinner, casually says "Can I bring anything?" OP replies "Yes, your side plates and coffee set please"

Oh Snitch this thread has made me giggle.

Think positively - you break a plate, you pop round to her house of a coffee and you nick a plate to replace yours.

I like that idea pancake! Oh, I am being very silly aren't I

Be proud that your friend has the same good taste as yourself!

I presume the white Denby is more expensive, and therefore less likely to be bought by the wedding guests?

BlathersFright · 20/10/2011 14:01

Very silly I'm afraid. There have got to be thousands of household with that set so the chances are more than one of your friends or acquaintances has it too.

Why not try being flattered instead, after all 'imitation is the sincerest form of flattery'.

Buy her a 'mug' with this on it .... just to make yourself feel better.....

"Oh - you said you wanted a JO mug...."

I do actually get where you are coming from, I'd not be angry but I have a relative who copies and I cruelly often think " oh use your own bloody imagination.." But I try to curb that and think that's flattering.

Actaully, the white denby isn't more expensive than the Jamie Oliver. They're both pretty much the same. The white denby is cheaper than the coloured denby though.
And I will try and be flattered. :)

Thank you pancake. At least I know I'm not mad and that someone else can understand, even if I am being stupid.

I am currently googling Jamie's dinner sets to see if I'd like one too.
