AIBU?

To wonder what the hell the three little kittens actually need mittens for?

DD, age 4 pointed this out at the bedtime story.

A fair point.

Maybe their controlling mother bought them in order to scold them when they lost them?

What a (feline) farce

Any suggestions and/or similar critical analysis of nursery rhymes?

rhyme is incredibly important to the development of children's awareness of the the sounds of words

I hope the mittens have strings on them so the kittens do not lose them

Haven't you heard how cold this winter is going to be? Think of their tiny little paws, blue with cold.

I'm sure Mummycat was being very prepared and buying in advance and those naughty little cats took them out without her knowing. Of course she will tell them off. Wouldn't you?

I would like to send my cats out with mittens on to keep their paws warm, but sadly I don't think my cats would comply and keep them on. I know they weren't keen last year when I made them wear a little cat Santa outfit so I could take a picture!

Because it is better than being declawed.

So they could wash them and thus get some pie of course.

Well, I suppose I have always vaguely wondered why that caterpillar feels miraculously better after eating one green leaf. Surely that wouldn't cure all the overeating and junk food he had gorged on earlier on in the book? Now some Rennie, or something like that I could understand...

Haha tortu. We have always said that the hungry caterpillar sends a bad message about binge eating!

In the nursery rhyme humpty dumpty it doesn't mention anything about an egg, yet humpty is an egg in every picture drawn of him Hmm

Its jack jumping over the candlestick that riles me, it goes against every bit of advice about not playing with fire - he makes it look safe!

I assumed one nice green leaf helped with roughage. The VHC had a nice big poo, and so he felt much better. :o

He could be a number of less horrific things, but why an egg in particular, who decided it was an egg?
