AIBU?

Jacket Potatoe

Ordered a jacket potatoe at cafe. Offer £3 for potatoe with beans & cheese.

Asked server for the potatoe but to leave off the beans. They said could do that but would be charged £4 as a potatoe with cheese was not on offer. the server said scrape of the beans if dont want them!

AIBU? Its not as though the potatoe with the two toppings was pre-prepared. I just thought this was the most stupid thing heard in a long time.

I don't know if you being unreasonable or not because you haven't stated what your unreasonably issue is
The cafe was unreasonable to want to charge more money for less food.
YABU to call it a potatoe though

Sounds as tho they have them already prepared/plated up. YUK.

I would have laughed in their face turned around and bought my lunch elsewhere.

yabu you cannot choose to alter an offer

just like you cannot get say
its two cokes for £2
but £1.50 separate
you cannot then buy 1 coke for £1 because that isn't the offer

Hate beans - yuck!

They weren't already plated up. They were very serious when I said I was saving them money by not having the beans and said to me "well it is the company rule that if you are having the offer you must have the beans. We do not care what you do with them after you have made your purchase"

Next time will stick to spud u like.

They could well put more cheese on the cheese only potato than the beans and cheese one and cheese is far more expensive than beans.

In your scenario would it be acceptable to still pay £2 but only want one of the cokes. Or should I be forced to take the two?

Yabu. You ordered something that was on the menu at a higher price. You pay the menu price for what you ordered.

YABU

The offer was for beans and cheese. Maybe they were trying to get rid of lots of beans?

Re mimimissmischief's point, no because one bottle is on the menu at 1.50. So you pay 1.50. Not 2, or 1. The price of one bottle

YANBU. That is ridiculous. It's not like you wanted something else substituted for the beans, you just didn't want them.

I can't eat eggs, and regularly go out with friends and have a brunch-breakfast somewhere. There is usually a set breakfast and it is more expensive to order a la carte. I always ask if I can substitute something for the eggs, and mostly they are happy to give me extra mushrooms or tomatoes. But one wouldn't, they said it was the set breakfast exactly as written on the menu, or I'd have to order a la carte at nearly twice the price. They refused to serve it without the eggs even without a substitution. So I asked for the eggs on a separate plate, which they were happy to do. And gave me the Hmm look when they came to clear the table and the eggs were still sitting there congealing in a pool of cold grease.

Weird.

But it was somthing already on the menu at a higher price. She wanted a meal cheaper than advertised, and is moaning because she couldn't have it.

If it was, say curry and beans. Curry wasn't on the menu individually, but beans were, she could expect to get it at the same price. But if she wanted the beans not the curry, why should she when its already being sold and advertised at a specific price?

Maybe a potatoe is an entirely different thing to a potato, and already has the beans on it when you dig it out of the ground. Literally.

So there was nothing that could have been done.

The spelling error is forgivable. Unlike the common one of saying
Mash potato instead of MASHED potato!
