am sick, have flu sipping on my lemsip on MN dp in bed and just plonked ds in front of film cars with a bag of skips.

in my defence he ate half a banane before said bag of skips.

should i take parenting classes??

Wurg Sun 09-Oct-11 09:51:12

Did you put them in a bowl with some milk?

BOOareHaunting Sun 09-Oct-11 09:51:12

Yes you should take a parenting class.

Crisps are part of the bad breakfast routine from about a year old.

Hope you feel better soon.

AuntiePickleBottom Sun 09-Oct-11 09:51:30

op hope you get well soon.

once in a while wont hurt, perhaps he can have beans on toast for lunch another easy option for you.

wandawings Sun 09-Oct-11 09:51:52

Once the lemsip has kicked in you can give him a proper breakfast smile

he wanted them in a bowl he obviously has more manners than me.

i have just given him a cereal bar. right thinks its time the reinforcements got his arse outa bed and help me before ds is ruined for life.

eugh lemsip is horrible.

YABU Skips are rank. You should have given him Monster Munch pickled onion flavour.

Make your own honey and lemon and just take some paracetamol, much nicer than lemsip.

Slice of lemon, spoonful of honey, boiling water. If you've got any mint in the garden chuck a few leaves of that in too.

Wurg Sun 09-Oct-11 10:02:01

I ask as DS once had wotsits in a bowl with some milk and proclaimed it 'delicious'. Skips are really just fishy cornflakes, right?

scuzy Sun 09-Oct-11 10:03:14

RightupMyRue that sounds like a lot of effort tbh. cant take any proper cold stuff with decongestants cos they interfere with antidepressants so its basic paracetemol which may as well be tic tacs.

ds just gave me a hug god he stinks of skips!!

scuzy Sun 09-Oct-11 10:04:14

oh wurg.... <puke> fishy cornflakes!!

fanjoforthemammaries7850 Sun 09-Oct-11 10:13:47

He will probably remember it for ages as a really exciting morning!

Aislingorla Sun 09-Oct-11 10:31:32

Aw...Get Well Soon!

scuzy Sun 09-Oct-11 10:32:28

thanks lads. i gave him toast and cheese and put on a wash. all is not lost. still look like a boiled shite though

BootyMum Sun 09-Oct-11 10:36:06

Well my 2.5 year old had three slices of buttered toast and vegemite for dinner last night.

And I'm not sick!

In my defence he asked for this [and ate it all!] and I was tired of cooking him meat and veges to have him play with it a bit, throw some on the floor and leave the vegetables almost entirely.

scuzy Sun 09-Oct-11 10:37:49

lol bootymum i am the same! he asked for the skips and wasnt in the form to argue.

BruciesDollyDealer Sun 09-Oct-11 10:38:30

im ill as well

but i made sure my dogs were fed properly smile

ripstheirthroatoutliveupstairs Sun 09-Oct-11 10:41:21

That's the sort of breakfast my DD would love if she could get away with it.
OP, i don't think you have flu if you are MNing and putting washing on.
Go back to bed and let your DH deal with it all.

LordOfTheFlies Sun 09-Oct-11 10:47:47

At least it wasn't Quavers. They are rank.

OP you also have to onsider: if your DS gets ill and starts throwing up. What was be the least offensive regurgitated snack to clean up?

envy - that's not an envy face, it's a bleurgh face.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 Sun 09-Oct-11 10:49:39

give BrucesDollyDealer a medal for putting some dog food on a plate

scuzy Sun 09-Oct-11 10:51:47

grin fanjo

ah maybe its not flu its def in my chest though may go to doc in morning but i never have 50 quid on a monday morning. as for the wash? i threw them from one basket in to drum and turned a switch. was more stressful making the lemsip.

ripstheirthroatoutliveupstairs Sun 09-Oct-11 11:05:24

If you have a pharmacy near you get someone to go and buy some menthol crystals.
Put a couple in a bowl and pour almost boiling water over it and make a tent with a towl. Put your head over it and breathe the vapour in.
It will clear your chest and sinuses, but don't use too much of them. They can be very burny especially with boiling water.

HeadlessForHocusPocus Sun 09-Oct-11 11:16:19

If YABU then so am I. All four of mine had spiced biscuits for breakfast this morning (nicked from the "xmas box"-it's now empty) and have just had an early lunch of leftover veg pizza grin

<<also has very bad cold emoticon>>
