AIBU?

to expect my internet to sort of, well work

when i want it to, not when aol say it can

this has been going on for months and months,
drop outs, disconections, slow, not working at all, the list goes on.

aol have said its the phone line, bt engineer says phone line is ok
aol have said its the filters, all new filters fitted and checked by not only the bt engineer but my ultra qualified pooter guy.

excuse after excuse from aol,

and then tonight,
barely understandable indian aol parrot says its my sky box,
aol equipment does not support a sky box on the main phone socket.
to test this theory i am to unplug my sky box for 24hrs to see if that improves things.!! would someone please come and tell my family that the tv has to go off for 24hrs coz sure as hell i don't want to!

the science bit for any techies out there

my download speed is 0.12mb
my router allows for 5 mbs
i only have one phone socket
we can only get sky tv, poor reception area.

and no, that is not an error in the download speed, that is indeed my braodband speed.

stupidly i signed into an 18 moth contrat with aol a few months back, a, to get my internet a bit cheaper, and b, because i couldn't be bothered with all the faff of changing service provider.

thank you for reading this rant, just wanted to let off a bit of steam.

off to emal watchdog, if i can keep the conection for long enough!

have just noticed all my typos in the op,
they didn't give me 18 moths, it was an 18 month contract, although, perhaps 18 moths might speed up my connection!

Totally unreasonable of you, everyone knows internet is not designed for your benefit, tis an extra bill for a service you may or may not recieved that day depending on the mood of the gods.

Sky just forgot to turn ours on a few weeks back. Didnt forget to start the direct debit for it though. Thankfully most of their call centres have staff with English as a first language so it only took a couple of weeks to rectify :-S

And dont even start me on Orange........

If AOL cant supply anywhere near the service you thought you were paying for, I wonder if you can ge tout of your contract? Call trading standards and ask?

Same here, YANBU at all.

TalkTalk was truly shit.

VirginMedia was fine until we dared to upgrade to a faster service, new modem....since then it's been dreadful. So we are paying more for a worse service. It's likely some setting but we have to work through them one by one, and with a new baby in the house don't have time for that, just need it to work, NOW!

I have been an aohell customer for 9years until 6 weeks ago when I ditched them for the same reason OP.

After 9 months of giving them a chance to sort the problem out.

Have switched to BTinternet and have no porblems now.
