AIBU?

To not go to a casting for an advert on Sunday because they want me to..

Put on a pair of headphones and mime into a fucking hairbrush for a screen test? Really? Honestly?

It's for nothing too exciting, Weight Watchers if you must know. I have lost 80lb in 16 months and my leader asked if she could nominate me for it, so now I have an appointment to go along for a screen test, and this is what they want me to do, as well as an on camera chat.

DH thinks I am being daft and should go, but I would have to be pissed to go into a room full of strangers and do what they are asking. And at 11am, I don't think it'd be too appropriate to go in stinking of wine. If it was just a magazine shoot, fair enough, wouldn't have to make a cock of myself then to get the gig.

Am I just being an uptight bore? Blush

Just stupidly posted this in relationships too so apologies if it is moved here and creates a duplicate!

I think you wanted a little boast... congrats on your weight loss though.

You know you have a choice, you don't really have to go if you don't want to... but you do and you'll go and you're thrilled about it.

If you need Dutch courage, just have the ONE. Enjoy your day.

It's a casting. They want to see you doing what they'll ask you to do in the advert. They are not BU, it's how castings work. So go or dont go, but if you get it, you'll have to do it with a roomful of people, a shed load of lights and a camera in your face. At least 30 times.

Hah. No, I wouldn't for a million biscuits.
You'll have to live with the mortification of that picture/advert/whatever afterwards.

Well done you!!!!

TBH I wouldn't go but that is because I don't like being in the thick of attention.

If you go have a glass of champagne before hand and have a good time!

This would be my worst nightmare!

Congratulations on the weightloss. Grin

Basically the way I see it is - who did you lose the weight for and why? If it was for yourself and you don't feel comfortable sharing it with the whole of Britain the casting people then don't go. It won't by anyway diminish your acheivement.

Ach - stop being so uptight, it will be fun! Have a couple of glasses of champagne on the way and treat it like the bit of fun it is! Celebrate your weight loss!!

(AM very impressed!!)

80 pounnds !!! Good grief, that's bloody incredible!!! I would probably feel the same apprehension at that set up but more than likely would still go out of sheer curiosity and the mileage to be gotten out of the story at dinner parties :)

Think you might wonder 'what if' if you don't do it OP and you must look incredible now so anyone who dares to critise (sp?) your hairbrush performance tell them to come talk to you again when they've achieved what you have!

80 pounds - dear god, how many people is that

YANBU! Stay dignified and don't do it! Your prize is the weight loss you've already achieved :)
