To dislike someone who hasn't done anything to you?

My DH co-runs a Sunday football team and has done for years.

For the last two seasons, one of the players' GF has been coming along and has now been appointed team physio. I've know of her for a long time as they've been together since school, but never met her until she started coming along.

I really, really dislike her. I've tried so hard to be nice, to grit my teeth and smile and take an interest in what she says...but I can't. She's a little bit smug in a lot of areas, and has a habit of non-stop talking to the point where you literally can't get a word in edgeways - but I have other friends like that and it doesn't bother me as much.

It's got to the point where I don't go to football to see my DH and other friends, because I know she'll be there and I'll have to listen to her.

Have I turned into a bitter, nasty old wench myself? Is that why I don't like her?

What can I do to stop her grating on me when I see her?

Be more assertive rather than passively accepting the incessant chatter, perhaps? "Blimey, do you ever shut up?"... you say in a jokey way. Of course, it could be that she's just nervous and coming across badly.

There are people who you take an instant dislike to for no reason and people who take an instant dislike to you. Trick is to accept it. Don't allow her to invade your happiness. Course if that fails tell her to shut the fuck upsmile
