by some M&S vine ripened piccolino tomatoes?!

I bought some this morning. They're delicious. I've eaten 12 and I have a very painful tongue now. It's not dissimilar to drinking too hot coffee. But it's quite uncomfortable.

Is this even possible?

MissPenteuth Tue 04-Oct-11 15:13:30

Did you wash them first?

I once burnt the skin off my tongue by eating a quarter pound of acid drop boiled sweets.

aldiwhore Tue 04-Oct-11 15:13:46

Haha... well you're not BURNT as such, but the acid will have got to you, that's all.

aldiwhore Tue 04-Oct-11 15:14:28

Actually, scratch that, burnt yes, acid burn. Duh me!

TheTenantOfWildfellHall Tue 04-Oct-11 15:15:28

I did wash them!

Well they must be mighty acidic.

But they taste so scrummy!

TheTenantOfWildfellHall Tue 04-Oct-11 15:16:07

Acid burn. Nice. Hey maybe I could sue...

TalcAndTurnips Tue 04-Oct-11 15:18:15

Oooh oooh yes - MissPenteuth - I too slashed my mouth to pieces on a small, rustly paper bag full of Everton mints.

When thoroughly sucked, they separate out into razor-sharp shards. Probably some sort of scouse joke.

TheTenantOfWildfellHall Tue 04-Oct-11 15:30:13

Mm actually pear drops do this too.

JodieSwirlTapBuff Tue 04-Oct-11 15:37:30

tommies give me tongue burn too

Once got chemical burns and an ulcerated throat from some Morrison's Traditional Cough Drops, but that's a whole nother story.

Only time I've ever seen a GP reel back in horror grin

Fruit and vegatables are DANGEROUS and should be AVOIDED.

A bar of chocolate is safe.

<gavel>

TheTenantOfWildfellHall Tue 04-Oct-11 17:12:27

I think you might be right, Pinot.

My tongue still hurts now. Never had that from bar of chocolate!

Pinot Tue 04-Oct-11 17:14:12

<nods wisely>

Think of me as the Dumbledore of food choice.

Kladdkaka Tue 04-Oct-11 17:14:25

You wouldn't have got this off a bag of Percy Pigs.

Honeydragon Tue 04-Oct-11 17:19:24

dumbledore eats earwax flavoured beans in error Pinot, and vomit.

huffythethreadslayer Tue 04-Oct-11 17:21:03

I'd like Pinot to become prime minister please. She talks such uncommon sense!

Pinot Tue 04-Oct-11 17:24:39

<ignores HoneyD>

Yes huffy - and you can be Chancellor and we can spend Monopoly money with abandon grin

Pinot Tue 04-Oct-11 17:25:21

Wise words, Kladdaka. Wise words indeed.

Happymm Tue 04-Oct-11 17:42:22

Prefer reversy Percy's myself, again, no burning in evidence after a whole bag few grin

ShatnersBassoon Tue 04-Oct-11 17:44:15

I made my tongue bleed with a giant Double Lolly. It was absolutely worth it though.

iklboo Tue 04-Oct-11 18:00:06

Fresh pineapple makes my tongue bleed.

MrsCampbellBlack Tue 04-Oct-11 18:03:24

Kiwi fruit does this to me too.

CroissantNeuf Tue 04-Oct-11 18:04:30

Too much pineapple can do that to me.

If I eat a shed load of Maltesers it makes the roof of my mouth sore too...doesn't stop me eating them though

And Sugar Puffs make your wee wee smell of Sugar Puffs.

'Tis quite unnerving. And a partial non-sequitur, to boot.

Almanzo Tue 04-Oct-11 18:41:11

Try sucking a crunchie bar slowly. The blood just pours out of your tongue. I have done it more than once too confused
