And? somebody killed her. I haven't read any of the comments you allude to but I do really feel for the Kercher family. Amanda Knox has become something of a celebrity Sad

Just like everyone apologised about convicting the Landlord in the Joanne Yeates case last christmas before he was ever even charged?

Because he looked a bit weird?

And oh....it wasn't him.

Oh FGS
She was convicted in a court of law.
Did you expect everybody to just ignore this and consider her innocent anyway?

Report
troisgarcons · 03/10/2011 21:16

Did she get off on a technicality?

Apologise to whom? Somehow I doubt she's on Mumsnet.

Amanda Knox did behave appallingly and weirdly at the time (cartwheels for cameras, snogging boyfriend outside police station etc) Someone killed the poor girl. I suspect there is more to it than we know. Italian law is different to ours, and this I think is where errors were made.
Ms Knox will now be making millions so I understand so am sure she doesn't much care what people think now, as she certainly didn't four years ago :(

She was involved somehow. There's no smoke blah blah...

do you also think Meredith Kercher's parents should hang their heads in shame? They have made it clear they think Knox is guilty.

What will be very interesting is whether or not the Prosecution will use their final appeal to take it back to the Italian Supreme Court. And whether Knox will be allowed to leave Italy in the meantime. Because if she does you can bet your bottom dollar she will never set foot out of America again.

Has she won her appeal?

I was worried about that. She's going to make a fortune now and the poor Kercher family are going to be in hell again.

Hopefully Ms Knox will not make a penny from this sordid situation and I remain sceptical, despite tonight's verdict.

Not sure which comments you mean. Just because she was freed doesn't mean she's innocent though. People can still have an opinion!

I've got no idea which thread you're talking about, but once someone's found guilty, then you talk about them as though they have committed the crime.

That does involve condemning them, and what they've done.

I've never posted about the murder, but if I had, I wouldn't be hanging my head in shame for saying what I thought.

And this thread shouldn't be about Amanda Knox, it should be about Meredith Kercher.

You were worried about her winning? Why would you worry about someone winning if they are innocent?

Report
Eglu · 03/10/2011 21:22

Just because she has been freed does not mean she didn't do it. I really can't get my head around it either way. Not sure if she did it or not, but winning an appeal does not make someone innocent.

Poor Meredith's family.
Will they ever know what happened to their beautiful daughter?
This trial has always been about AK.
From what I've heard from showbiz gossip through book deals and a movie she is going to make a fortune out of this.
I do hope it isn't true, and she fades quietly into the background.
And I have no idea if she was innocent or guilty. It's 50/50 still for me.

Apologise for what? They got off by trashing the reputations of Italian police and forensic experts, and a cynical million dollar PR campaign driven out of the USA.

There will be another appeal, but of course she'll have run back to the USA with mummy and daddy by then, who want her home so badly that they dont care if shes a killer or not. Blind belief that the daughter they used to know know couldnt have done something so awful.

I suspect justice has not been served today.

When the Birmingham six were eventually released having been set up by the West Midlands police they got compensation.

I remember Paddy Hill (i think) going on early morning telly and Anne Diamond saying...

'yeah but you're getting this compensation...what about the people who died'?

And he said

'yeah,i feel sorry for them ...but we didn't do it'.

So whether or not she makes a fortune...her conviction has been overturned and she is not guilty.

A miscarriage of justice or she's got away with murder.

We'll never know.

They never said she was innocent. She 'got off' on a technicality.

Personally I have never bad mouthed her on here but even if I had I would not be apologising.

IMO she had something to do with merediths death. My opinion won't change after tonight.

Rudy Guede murdered Meredith. Justice has been served- he is in prison for the crime.

AK has been found to be INNOCENT!

Maybe some of you would like to spend 4 years in jail for a crime you didn't commit?

Well you may say that Margaret, but I prefer to say that her appeal was successful.
