to offer afterschool club worker who I chat with a lot and is going on holiday in a couple of days,a handful of left over 1Euro and 2 Euro coins ? About 20 Euros in total that I am sick of hanging round the house.

I think that would be fine - especially if you said "would you do me a favour .....these are driving me mad and I can't change them etc"

Obviously giving it , not expecting £ in return, but would it seem patronising?

Have they got any DC you could give it to as holiday spends?

Oh I'd think you where lovely!

catgirl1976 Wed 28-Sep-11 16:32:31

I don't think so ... its always good to have change as well as notes and as long as you were pretty casual about it, not acting like you were doing something that was a big deal

I like zigzags idea of giving it to any DCs though

N o it would be very handy to have coins for machines t the airport without having to change notes etc. Put it to them like that, but if they have dc that'd be better again.

no dc

I'd snatch your hand off. Just say 'here's some coins in case you've never got anything smaller than a 20 euro note to tip the taxi driver.'

I think its a lovely gesture. You could just say "I've had these at home for ages and I won't get chance to use them"

AKMD Wed 28-Sep-11 16:48:59

No, it's lovely.

pippilongsmurfing Wed 28-Sep-11 16:51:20

That's nice. If you offered them to me I would think it was very thoughtful and nice of you.

Lovely thing to do. I'd be grateful and think you were lovely. And I'd try to return the favour in some way in the future!

RedHelenB Wed 28-Sep-11 17:14:08

Why not let your kids put it in one of those roller charity things they have in shoe shops etc?

meditrina Wed 28-Sep-11 17:16:46

I'd love it if someone did that - changing coins is always a pain!

I'd bring a present back from the holiday for the donor: but if I was the donor, I wouldn't be expecting anything in return.
