I nipped to the loo today in a well-known department store.

There were 5 cubicles, 4 door were shut and one ajar.

I made to whizz towards the open cubicle, but the woman washing her hands told me she hadn't finished in there yet.

Hmm

It turns out that she had left her handbag and shopping hung on the back of the door while she washed her hands.

Obviously the sanitariness of her stuff was more important than someone else's ablutions. Angry

This is not npormal practice right?

AIBU to think this was a pisstake?

Not normal practice as far as I know! Maybe she'd gotten poo on her hands or something.

perhaps she has a ten foot fanjo and had removed her mooncup reinserted and did not wish to sully her very expensive handbag with fanjo secretions? and to save time......

I reckon the woman was fighting a losing battle!

The germs would be on the cubicle door anyway and would transfer onto her hands when she went to get her coat and bag.

Good practice, but IMO flawed.

Did you wait while she washed and dried her hands before collecting her stuff? Personally I'd have just gone in and made her wait.

Oh I did wait.

Reader, I leaked.

Can someone please ask Honeyd why she's playing mind games with me?

Perhaps it was just that those taps in public toilets always splash everywhere and she didn't want to get her stuff wet on the counter or floor.

And it's a pain to wash your hands and move bags over to the hand driers, they get wet that way too.

It's still a bit odd, but there have been times when I've wished they had some kind of coat hooks outside the cubicles too, if they have the space.

One day she is bound to forget her bags and leave them hanging on the back of the door.

Crap in her handbag
That'll learn her

Maybe she didn't like hand-driers so wanted to go back to get some loo roll to dry her hands?

Can some one tell chaos (small c) it is because I can.
And also ask her if she wants me to find and poke the nasty lady that made her leak because it is not nice to make people wait for a unused toilet.

At least her handbag was the only thing she forgot;

Shock please tell me that is photoshopped and people don't really hang babies on the back of toilet doors!

YankNCock, those baby holder things are one of the first times I did a Shock face on mn; they've been on the market for ages, so I assume there must be call for them Hmm!!

YankNCock · 27/09/2011 21:02

but...but........ oh wait, having looked again, it hangs over the door, not on the bag hook. Thank goodness for that, I was envisioning those times when the bag hook is nearly falling off/only has one screw and thinking it would never hold a baby!

Still, it just seems weird. Mind you, I used to pee with DS strapped to me in the wrap sling.

That baby keeper gave me an attack of the giggles Grin I couldn't even speak to show dh and not helped by the fact that he then did a demo of what ds2 would probably do when hanging from the back of the toilet door.

What is someone tried to grab it off the door thinking it was your handbag Shock

Anyway back to the OP no not normal but actually something I wish I had the guts to do when I read the post. Not for germ control just because I am always in a bit of a faff and am never sure what to do with my bags with wet hands and moving to driers and things.

Wonder what she would have done if you'd nipped in and locked the door with her stuff still inside, all the while calling out "I won't be long".
