To wonder what's so special about pigeons?

walking through town with just ds2. Had one of those bittersweet moments when you realise just how lovely it is to hold your child's hand, and just how quickly he is growing up. So prompted by this I said unguardedly:

DD2 once advised me that orange juice made her happier than anything in the world, even cuddles.

I say we go out and shoot some pigeons with frozen oj pellets.

I don't want to shoot them with anything. DS would then feel sorry for them and hate me. I think the best way is to be nice to them and hope that one day one of them shits on him so he can have his eyes opened to their feral and unpleasant nature. I would never shit on him

Look! I have long ago accepted that I humans come about 120th on the ladder of species as far as my youngest son is concerned. I would be happy simply to be accepted as superior to other humans. And possibly pigeons.

Arabel = sodding racing pigeon that got squashed by a car and was rescued by DD2.

Sworn enemies. Thank fuck Arabel flew away last week and things are back to normal.

The idea of a pet raven feeds into all the slightly perverted Morris-ish faux-Medieval obsessions that I had as a teenager. Maybe that bit of me has survived work, mortgage and motherhood. A bit worrying really.
