FFS walkers crisps have been around for yeeeeears, so why do I still expect a blue bag of crisps to be salt and vinegar?

I'm 29 but this makes me feel so old! Kids look at me like I'm daft, and also though I have made up opal fruits!!

Confuse them with Marathons too! grin

lubeybooby Sun 18-Sep-11 12:11:20

I'm 31 and I still expect the blue bag to be salt and vinegar too!

cornsillx Sun 18-Sep-11 12:11:30

blue crisps are cheese and onion innit
you don't eat enough crisps

borderslass Sun 18-Sep-11 12:12:34

I'm 40 and hate it why cant they leave anything alone.
Snickers = marathon.
Starburst = opal fruits.

TrillianAstra Sun 18-Sep-11 12:14:22

Is it because you have eaten non-Walkers crisps for most of your crisp-eating life?

BeaOnSea Sun 18-Sep-11 12:16:33

Blue = salt & vinegar
Green = cheese & onion
snickers = marathon
starburst = opal fruits
oil of olay = oil of ulay
cif = jif

<bangs gavel>

Youngsters who don't understand... Golden Wonder crisps from the good old days were green for cheese and onion and blue for salt and vinegar. I have not even seen these in the shops for years so I honestly don't know why I still get them mixed up!

Georgimama Sun 18-Sep-11 12:20:32

Because Golden Wonder did it the other way around, and blue for salt and vinegar makes more sense (blue = the sea = salt, green = plants = onions).

ceebeegeebies Sun 18-Sep-11 12:22:07

I'm with you - it still confuses me (and I eat Walkers crisps a lot!)

Salt & Vinegar should be blue and I will never refer to Opal Fruits as Starburst grin

cornsillx Sun 18-Sep-11 12:22:15

What about smiths crisps?

CaptainKirksNipples Sun 18-Sep-11 12:22:48

Thanks georgimama! It does make more sense doesn't it... It's not just cause I'm old grin

BeaOnSea Sun 18-Sep-11 12:25:02

Georgimama I love your logic !

OP - you are a youngster to me grin

borderslass Sun 18-Sep-11 12:25:39

CaptainKirksNipples if your old I'm ancient

Georgimama Sun 18-Sep-11 12:26:32

I still say Jif, Opal Fruits, Marathon, Fry's, all the old brand names, and I am 32.

cornsillx Sun 18-Sep-11 12:26:59

that have changed frys? shock

rockinastocking Sun 18-Sep-11 12:27:07

Every other crisp company does blue for salt and vinegar. Think about Smiths, Kettle Chips, etc.

Just Walkers got it wrong.

SootySweepandSue Sun 18-Sep-11 12:27:28

I think Walkers have killed the market. There just isn't enough choice anymore! Whatever happened to KP and Golden Wonder?

Georgimama Sun 18-Sep-11 12:28:04

Frys peppermint cream bars are made by Cadburys now I think.

rockinastocking Sun 18-Sep-11 12:32:16

KP still do nuts.

Forgot they did crisps...

I used to love Golden Wonder...our school used to sell them in the hall every break.

No Frys? shock What about Turkish Delight then?

I always always pick the wrong bag thinking its cheese and onion and get salt and vinegar, its just plain wrong!
ps does anyone remember the frys bar that had all different flavours in it not just mint? and also mint cracknell ohhhh memories, a whole other thread emerging smile

cornsillx Sun 18-Sep-11 12:38:59

yes I was thinking about that fry's bar mmmm....

CaptainKirksNipples Sun 18-Sep-11 12:40:27

I'm nipping to the shop to get a fry's/cadbury's bar now!

halcyondays Sun 18-Sep-11 12:41:26

Tesco own brand crisps and McCoys do it properly, their salt n vinegar are in blue packets. I like Seabrook crisps too. Used to love Golden Wonder.

halcyondays Sun 18-Sep-11 12:43:17

Was it called Five centres, stepaway?Anyone remember Zero bars and a mint one called Icebreaker, don't think it was around for long?
