AIBU?

AIBU to feel smug about having solved youth/pot/litter problem outside my house

We live in a nice area but like so many other places it is being dragged down by the actions of a selfish minority. Recently we have had a bunch of youths from outside the immediate area, who park up and drink/chat/smoke all night outside our house. To be fair, they are not especially noisy, but - and this is what really irks me - they leave shit loads of litter behind every time. Bottles of vodka, crisp packets, biscuit boxes, beer cans etc. And the dog-ends of cannabis joints.

Anyway, after having cleared up after them for the umpteenth time, I had an eppy and decided to call the police, on the basis that they were being anti-social, and smoking drugs. I made a call to the non-emergency 101 number. The police showed up in 30 mins, and nicked two of them for possession. I've not seen any of these fuckers since - about 3 weeks ago now (they used to show up about 4 times a week)

AIBU to not give a shit that I might have possibly wrecked some kid's life through a drug possession rap, but in fact have possibly slightly improved the neighbourhood ?

Hey you done them a favour, you didn't ruin their lives, they won't be going to prison.

Yanbu at all. It seems like they've learnt a valuable lesson: not to annoy you and hang around your house!Grin

bloody hell, if THEY had the drugs it's not YOU that would have wrecked their life, it's their responsibility not yours.
And if they didn't want to be caught all they needed to do was not be so antisocial about it.
YANBU.

They probably won't even go to court...just have it taken off them if it's a small amount.

Yanbu. Good work girl. Filthy little buggers. I cannot abide litter.

It's a stringing up offense as far as I'm concerned. #keepbritaintidymilitantwing

well done good for you! why the hell should you have to put up with some little shitheads outside your house! if they have got a criminal record then that is there tough shit they shouldnt break the law and piss other people off doing so.
if they were smoking drugs and then drove off and killed someone then they would have a lot more to worry about than getting caught with a bit of weed. they should have some bludy considerations and respect for other people! i would have done exactly the same.

Very well done to you. Could you please move in with me and deal with the constant anti social behaviour I am too afraid to deal with?

Eppy from Urban Dictionary

  1. Eppy
Short for "episode" in the sense of an argument or a huge row.
Usually preceded by "Don't have an..." it's a slang comment referring to a situation that is about to descend out of all control.

  2. eppy
To get very upset indeed and usually freak out at someone. A violent outburst.

Derogative term derived from "epileptic fit".
"When he saw them together he had a fuckin eppy"

I know what it means ,not a nice turn of phrase though is it

Eppy is just a slang term for having an episode - meaning that the person lost their temper. Not EVERYTHING, not every little word, has to be brought up in an attempt to prove how "right on" you are.

Usual Suspect: It was no.2 as defined by Gracie, and yes I know they will only have got a caution Grin

RedOnion: I was also too scared to confront them, hence why I called the police. AFAIK the offenders have no idea it was me that initiated the call. Any chance you can do the same ?

I am in AWE that the police took notice of you and turned up and Did Something! Good for you!
Last time I phoned them the conversation went something like this...
Me: I need the police, my son has been assaulted on his way home from school
Operator: That isn't an emergency, you need to phone the other number
Me: what other number? and shouldn't you ask me if he's injured or dead or something before you decide if it's an emergency or not?
Operator: Well THIS time I can take your call, but in future you need to dial the other number....
(That said, the police did eventually turn up)

you know what i was always taught you never live in fear especially not in you own home and i get that from my father who wouldn't have any shit fro anyone, and if you dared to bring it outside our home you would feel his wrath. i have on occasion opened my window and told little twats to fuck off or id call the police.
and everytime they have fucked off. what is wrong with people why cant they just have some consideration for others around them. some might call me a gobby cow but i dont have anti social behavior going on outside my house. most of the kids round here apologize and move on when you shout at them.

I'm so silly!

I thought she wrote Eppy as short for epiphany!

As in she had a sudden realisation that If she phoned the police, it might help move the group on!

Anyway, well done on getting rid of them! Now if you can sort out my neighbours. Grin
