It's all relative.

Love doesn't conquer homelessness or hunger or abuse in families or a dependence on drugs. Love doesn't feed your children. Love doesn't find you a job when you have been unemployed for a year.

Love is amazing and there's a lot that doesn't matter but love does not conquer all.

Well I think unconditional love conquers all.

well in this country at least, i do feel it is the answer, as for example i don't really believe that people become drug addicts unless something terrible has happened to them and they also feel unloved unconditionally

and i thought even if you became homeless the council would put you in abed and breakfast or hostal, and while not ideal, at least its aroof over your head, and thats all that actually really matters,

although i suppose in the third world survial comes before anything else

Bit of a bummer for those who aren't all luvvied up, then.

There's far more to life than the over-romanticised pursuit of lurve.

well what i mean is, i don't think someone becomes an addict, unless they actually deep down feel unloved.

not saying people don't love them, just how the addict percives it iyswim

I dont agree at all with the 'all' addicts feel unloved. Im sure some do but not all.

Don't be ridiculous OP. Love doesn't cure cancer or prevent bankruptcy or get you off a parking ticket. And 'love conquers all' is an idea used as self-justification by stalkers, a lot of the time.
Loving and being loved by friends, family, pets or indeed a romantic partner is very nice and can make life better, sure, but it's not the answer to everything.

At one time I truly believed love conquered all - so much so that I was going to hava a tattoo of that phrase in Latin - Amor Vincit Omnia.

That was until I realised actually it doesn't, and sometimes love, wonderful though it can be, isn't enough.

of course it doesn't cure cancer, but it help you get through whatever happens in your life good or bad.
same with bankrupcy.
if you have your family, you love them, they love you, you can do anything
and feel invinicble even though your not, and yes we all will die sometime.

i wish more people open their minds to spirtuality too.
a bit of gospel singing will really help bright people moods imo.

I have children and a DH. My never married, single brother doesn't, nor do several of my never married, long-term very single friends. How do they fit in to this world picture? Especially the one who is orphaned?

Hopefully theorhaned one can still feel the love from her parents, even after people by, if you know they loved you, truely and deeply, you can still feel their love

I think a sense of faith would be great for these people and gving love to those less fortunate

I think I agree OP

Love is the most important thing in the world

Far better to face cancer or bankruptcy with people to support you and love you than alone. It makes it all less bleak and gives you strength.

Life often means little with no love.

Yes, I have a child, but don't see that her love for her mother makes me invincible or will conquer all!!. And I have no-one else. So as I said, that's me fecked!!!
