Took 20month old DS2 swimming today and one of the mums had forgotten her 18month old daughters swim suit and nappy pants.

So I gave her a swim nappy but she was told by the lifeguard/attendant that her daugher couldnt go in the pool without a swimsuit (ie her top half covered).

SHE'S 18 MONTHS OLD FFS.

Apparently the policy is that girls have to have 'proper' swimsuits. Boys can just wear a swim nappy so its not about having to have a swim suit iyswim.

We ended up calling the Manager, who agreed it was madness (and probably not allowed under the sex discrimination laws) but it was "out of his hands"

Bonkers or what?!

Totally bonkers.

MAde me worry now, we're going on holiday tomorrow and I didn't get a costume for DD (12 weeks). Do I need one? Madness.

Completely nuts. I would complain to the company who own the pool and also point out the manager's ineptitude. How on earth can he claim that it's "out of his hands". He's the manager FFS.

How did the attendant know the 18 month old was a DD and not a DS? My youngest two DSs both wore pink swimming nappies to use up leftovers of DDs and sometimes pink was all there was. Especially in a "borrowed" hardly likely you actually wanted it back grin swimmer nappy...
