Topic on This Morning where a teacher was sacked for being a porn star. I cant see the harm in what he was doing, its not as if he was flaunting it all over the school.

As long as he is good at his job then whats the problem?

The kids will find out!

My dc know way too much about their teachers, it would only take one older brother/sister to discover them and it would then be up on Facebook for the world to see!

What age does he teach?

Are you feeling okay? I wouldn't want a teacher who moonlights as a porn star teaching my daughter!! He probably wasn't flaunting it over school, but how long before students would start sticking pics of him all over the school in action? Not to mention, what kind of message he'd give to impressionable young girls who may have a crush on him.

Totally disagree.
And he came across as an arrogant sod.
I believe he taught PsHE.

Can you imagine the staff room 'chat'?

I can see why it wouldn't be a good idea in secondary school but cant see the harm in infants/primary where I doubt the kids would find out.

You are able to be a porn star and still be a decent human being.

I started a thread on this last week....

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/1290937-If-your-childs-teacher-was-also-a-stripper-and-starred-in-a-porn-movie

He was a senior school teacher and some of the pupils saw the trailer for his porn movie on line.

I just think it would make him a giggling laughing stock really amongst the kids.

I agree he would lose respect from older kids, and he shouldnt really be communicating with them via fb.

I wouldn't give a monkeys provided that:

He could teach his subject very well indeed.
He could control a class with ease.
He ensured that his pupils were disciplined, respectful and well-mannered.
He encouraged and ensured decent "social graces" in his pupils.
He was well spoken and knew how to spell and ensured that his pupils were too.
That he would correct bad manners consistantly - for example, he would call the child back who didn't say "Good morning Sir" and teach the child what was expected of him.
That he was approachable and even-handed.
And that finally that he didn't allow his other job to unduly influence his teaching.

I just opened a thread on chat about whether anyone saw him on This Morning.
He came across as a pompous arse.
Even if he wasn't a porn star I'd still wouldn't like him teaching my son.

I would not have an issue with this man being my childs teacher. Provided he is good at his job and has the necessary authority over the class and commands respect from the class.

He did come across as a smug arse though.

I do agree that what he does in his own time should be his business. My initial reposnse to this story was that if he was srong enough teacher/character to want to continue teaching after this broke, then he's the sorty of person we need in schools, but having read and seen more of him, I don't think it's any loss TBH.

In any case I think his main "crime" was inappropriate use of FB and text with pupils wasn't it? And he's loving the fact that his profile is now sky high - he doesn't want to teach anymore

The main required attribute of a Porn Star is a big cock, hence the smugness....

If you are governed by a regulatory body, then you have to conduct yourself in a certain way.

The profession loses respect, otherwise.

I personally think that the recruitment for police control rooms is excessive and the 'fitness to practice panel' in the GSCC can be harsh, though.

As well, having worked 'with' sex workers etc, i think being in the industry does cloud your view of life/the world/relationships.

No, YANBU, and everything Valhalla said. I think the really pertinent question is what about the little buggers who (no doubt 'accidentally') discovered his other career? Why aren't the usual suspects up in arms about kids looking at porn?

He is a part-time sex-ed teacher (only teaches that subject, I think) and very open about his other career.
I really can't get my head around this one, either.
