AIBU?

To detest the word "Frape"

I'm see8ng and hearing a lot of people talking about "Fraping" or having been "Fraped" on FB. It sends a chill right down my spine every time I hear people say it. I find it far too flippant a play on words considering we know what the word really means.

I now it's one of those made-up words that people are using to sound cool but I put it in the same catagory as those currently running around calling their kids "sexy"

Surely these terms are a touch inappropriate?

YANBU
It's vile and I hate it too. Fortunately my friends are all too old and decrepit to use terms like that but it freaks me out a little when I see it on young people's pages (god I really do sound old) - but I think it devalues what rape is.

YANBU I feel exactly the same and have to resist commenting on the status because I am sure I would just sound like a nutter.

You're right though, very inappropriate and I agree with kenobi devalues the word rape.

YANBU, horrible word.

I guess it's too difficult to combine "Facebook" and "hijack" to make something snappy.

5foot5 it's play on words meaning "Facebook rape" when someone uses your login to post something as you.

YANBU - vile term, but then the children who use these terms don't understand the full gravity of what they are saying

a friend of mine used it and he's over 30. Some people don't have the excuse of being young and naive.

I don't see a problem with it but I can see why others might even if I don't agree with them

stranded bear I'm not on often enough to know how often things are being discussed.

Tara I'm well aware that language evolves. I know I use words that others would probably find offensive but that's in closed company when I'm having a laugh and I kNOW I'm not going to offend anyone. Surely anyone with an ounce of decency would know that when speakig online you should show some consideration. Think before you speak and all that. Otherwise it's just thoughtless discourse in an obvious attempt to follow the trendies. That's screamingly obvious.

People are entitled to say what they like. just as I am entitled to tell them to fuck off, rant about it or ignore then if I don't like it.

YANBU.

Not being an FBer I didn't know what it meant, was thinking (slightly less flippant but just as wrong) 'friend-raped'. For FB-hacked, why don't they call it facked?

YANBU, I hate it as well! My sister uses it loads and I have to sit on my hands as she'd go ballistic if I actually mentioned it.

may I know that the internet is full of people mostly hiding behind their screens saying things they probably wouldn't say IRL. Except me. I'm always a cunt :)
