to be annoyed that DP won't get home on time for mattress delivery?

Right, I realise this is a little thing but it follows some similar stuff and I am sick of being responsible for this kind of thing.

We were due to have a mattress delivered on Sat morning from JL, but they called after they lost it Confused They only had week time delivery for the rescheduled slot so I begged them to do one as late as possible. They said they will deliver it from 8-10pm tonight.

However, I have just had a text from DP saying work is awful and he won't be home until 9pm. We do very similar work (ie have the same job title) at different companies, that struggle to cope with bank holidays. Tuesdays after bank holidays are always hell. I am stuck here waiting for sign off and know that i will eventually organise my work so I can take some home to be back in time for delivery. This is not easy and tomorrow morning will be extra grim.
AIBU for being sick of always having to organise my work around stuff like this?

(I know I am bu for being on Mumsnet when I have work to do!).

Why is it always you who has to rearrange to handle things like this?
And how often does it happen?

It's just little things.

Like a Sainsbury's delivery last week. He forgot that it was due to come as I wasn't at home. However, it arrived a bit late so he was fine. The claimed I had told him it was not until next week. I definitely didn't!

He's lovely and does loads of other stuff but this is getting on my tits.

To be honest, it is pretty minor in the grand scheme of things.

If he's lovely and does loads of other stuff, i'd forget about it.

Are you in? If so YAB a bit U - it's not an inconvenience for you to tell the guys who are delivering it to put it where you want it.

Thanks for responses!

I wasn't in no, I had to commute back though he did to in the end as I pleaded that I was too short to be expected to deal with a mattress on my own.

All in vain however, all in vain as the second my train pulled out of the station the bastards called to say that it wouldn't be arriving tonight Sad

Honestly! I went all the way to John Lewis and paid more with them than I might have done elsewhere just to ensure this kind of bollocks just didn't happen.

Soo, new question. Are John Lewis being unreasonable to cancel the delivery TWICE?!

Yes to your new question.
Cancel the order and find a better company and courier.
I hate being let down by delivery companies, I had a load of summer stuff ordered for my holiday in Greece this year which took two weeks to arrive and I didn't get to take it.
It was the courier's fault, but the companies were responsible for using them in the first place.
