This is mainly to help me vent.

I have a wonderful dp, fantastic hands on dad, does everything I could ask and more. Very loving and attentive and thoughtful.

However every month roughly for a few days he is hell to live with, extreme mood swings, horrific temper, pretty much switches off and ignores everything unless its to snipe, I mean what the actual fuck. He has these few days then is straight back to normal and sayes sorry for how he's been and so on.

During these 'episodes' I encourage him to go out, do something in the garage or anything but it seems hed rather hang around like a bad smell making me feel miserable, for instance, food shopping today, he didn't have to come I'm quite happily loading dcs in car, meal planner in hand and out he comes like a frigging dementor and gets in, I just carry on as usual and he glares at me, I snapped and asked what the fuck I've done, his reply nothing as usual. I decide its just not worth it, so we manage an entire shopping trip with him in silence on our return I begin to make lunch, ask him if hed like something and he's just so off hand!!! Nothing major I know just like a surly teen but its annoying me, A LOT!

He does sound like he's being a git. I had a male housemate who definitely got a monthly grump on - he even admitted it himself.

Is it just before pay day? Sorry couldn't resist.

No men don't suffer from PMT in a hormonal way that women do, but they can get other physical illness such as low blood sugar or blood pressure, how is his health generally? Depression can happen in cycles, do you talk about it when he is out of his mood?

Are you sure it isnt just that he is like this all the time, and its only when you have PMT that it annoys you more Grin Wink

If it's the few days before pay day, I've noticed a couple of male friends getting a grump on because they've run out of pocket money for beer and fags.

I live in such a classy world.

My dh has been like this, and won't acknowledge that it's him that's mega grumpy. I know I've got pmt at the moment, and am less willing to put up with grumpyness, however, his attitude today sucks.

I was quite restrained (but sarcastic), and sweetly pointed out that he wouldn't behave like that at work, or speak to his colleagues like that, and that I don't have to put up with it either.

It annoys the fuck out of me too, but my dh is like this when he hasn't eaten, and he knows this and does it anyway. It could be that this is affecting your dh too.

I think I will have to agree with that - dh has his moments, says he has 'excess testosterone (sp?) in his body' Confused but you know what that will lead on to......Grin

Nope, was payday friday. He doesn't smoke so its not that, he likes the odd beer with the food shop but I've put a stop on it as were trying to save. But the moods have been for atleast a year, possibly longer.. He's generally quite healthy, were both on a 'healthy eating' kick atm to improve all our lives but he loves that so, I recon he's just mardy. Little things like youngest dc is 2 needs a nappy change he just points her to me, he's had enough of kids tv so that's that! They're only 4 and 2 and we just got kids channels they're bound to be a bit excited for a few days!

Is it possible he knows you are about to become impossible and just dreads it?

I'm only being half flippant. I used to work with someone whose colleagues, male and female, knew her cycle all too well. She was dead regular and every fourth Thursday she came in and you knew not to mess with her, or even ask for any courtesy or cooperation. By the following Monday she was back to her usual (very likeable) self.

Nah I'm not like that, I'm on the pill which stops that entirely and even without it I never suffered with moods etc.

I'm not sure, I guess I'm just more laid back now, we've had a rough time, been homeless for 6mnths etc and now lifes good I'm extremely happy and oh so grateful and just can't see why these moods continue..its like he's ruining the life we've worked soo very hard to re build. He just offeref to settle dd (she's a nightmare sleeper) as I'd been failing for 2hrs, this results in her crying and him shuting her door, so I'm now back at square one with her sobbing inconsolably grrr
